I'm thinking about getting contacts this summer before school starts again. And I was wondering if it's safe to wear contacts during the organic chem lab while wearing saftey goggles.

When I was in Orgo, lots of people wore their contacts while also wearing safety goggles. Contacts don't typically pose a problem while you are wearing safety goggles. Check to see what your school's policies are; they may ask you not to wear them for liability purposes.
If you're dealing with something particularly hazardous or if you lean over your solutions, then you're running a high risk of causing damage to your eyes, contacts or not. If something happens, you typically will have access to an eye-wash station, too, to reduce the chance of causing damage to your eyes.

Yeah--just make sure you keep your goggles on. Obviously, the contacts might mess you up if you don't wear your goggles but get chemicals in your eyes.

Your lab instructor will likely inform you whether contacts are allowed or not. If working with volatile chemicals, the chemicals can get from the air into the lenses so most people take their lenses off for their lab and put them in again after.
