What people refer to as a soul, I prefer to call 'The remnant energy'. Information is never lost as pointed out by astrophysicists, and where the information goes when we die had eluded people for many eons. I believe the information that is us, actually momentarily go through a gate, but when at the end of the gate, everyone will seem to appear at the same time. An instant in relative time in this tunnel will equal to millions of years on earth, which means we arrive at the final destination almost at the same time as our parents their parents and so on. This way there will be no wait, no agony of anticipation. Our remnant energy will simply go through a tunnel, and at the end arrive to another dimension at the same exact time as everybody else. What is this dimension? It is a place missing one dimension we have in our present universe, time.

Depends on you God, If your a Jehovah witness you believe you sleep until the ressurection, if your a Catholic you go to a waiting place called pergatory, and people must lite candles and do things for you before you enter Heaven. But if you believe the Bible says you go to judgment and then to Heaven or Hell;Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
1 Timothy 5:24 Some men's sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

I think the stories of heaven and the afterlife pale in comparison to what actually happens. When you die, your body will decompose and return to the soil to nourish other plants, which feed other animals. Basically, you return to the cycle of life that you came from and help ensure that it continues.
There is no evidence of the soul, and I don't think we see anything or go anywhere when we die, it will be just like it was before you were born.

As a Christian I have to admit no one knows, not even the pope else why would the doctors fight to the last minute to save the pope's life when he is ill. It's because they are scared to enter the nether world. We can all hope there is a place like heaven but it doesn't make much sense actually--- does it? I think Darwin had it right..
The Hindus.think they have the answers as do the Muslims who think they will all get a bunch of virgins. I think that is just wishful thinking..

I don't think anyone really knows. Some religions say heaven or hell, some say reicarnation. I've seen ghosts all my life. Some people say if they died suddenly, they don't know they're dead & can't move on. I guess you won't know the answer until you die.

If changed and doing good in their life making amends and taking respponsibility for the actions the ascend into heaven and have their eternal life knowing it before they take off the flesh
If they treat ppl any old kind of way, they go to the burning lake of Fire and from there to hell to inherit their eternal state of damnation for all eternity

in jewish and catholic religion, you enter purgatory as your judgement place.
in shinto religion, you go to nirvana...like a paradise
some other religions believe that when you die, your soul enters into a new body, either boy or girl. That would be reincarnation
hope this helped...
