I believe it means that if you fully love and trust God, he'll stay with you, and you will live forever with him in eternity, but if you turn your back on him, he will deny you. If you deny the Lord, he will deny you. He will remain faithful in his promises, the question is will we?

This means to me that we are Gods children and Friends. Our Lord loves us and wants us to be with him in heaven. But as humans we have free will and can reject God with our sins. But no matter how much we reject God he cannot reject us. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

219 God's love for Israel is compared to a father's love for his son. His love for his people is stronger than a mother's for her children. God loves his people more than a bridegroom his beloved; his love will be victorious over even the worst infidelities and will extend to his most precious gift: "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son."

Sounds like self contradictory tripe, but that's just because I'm a realist.

It means that there are paradoxes involved with what Jesus said about the relationship we are to have. I have found it futile to worry about them. That's probably a paradox in itself. As I trust God, He makes His word live in me. I don't have to try to live a paradox. He makes it live in me.

Did your dad give this to you? If so maybe he was trying to give you a piece of advice.
But any way it is... The way we should live our life and how God has promised to take care of us if we obey him.

It's the promises of God through Jesus Christ.

The unsaved heart cannot understand this....so don't expect them to give you good answers
