God has never chosen a true religion. God has never mentioned the word religion. When it comes to picking the true religion it should be up to God and not a religion because they always pick themselves making their claims worthless. If you come to see God, he doesn't care if you arrived by train, plane or bus. Unfortunately religion has turned God into a competitive business.

"The Way that can be followed is not the eternal Way.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the origin of heaven and earth
While naming is the origin of the myriad things.
Therefore, always desireless, you see the mystery
Ever desiring, you see the manifestations.
These two are the same—
When they appear they are named differently.
This sameness is the mystery,
Mystery within mystery;
The door to all marvels."
Daode Jing (also known as Tao Te Tsjing), chapter 1
Don't confuse talk about reality with reality itself. The idea that there is a right religion is such a confusion. Choosing a team will get you nowhere, you have to study, think, live and practice, learn by doing, listening and understanding. Perhaps there is a church where you will feel at home, perhaps not. No matter what, there isn't a teachers' edition of the book of life. Only ones where other students have filled in the answers, often copied from each other.

Regardless of which religion you take up, there will ALWAYS be another religion (or maybe even a different sect within the same religion) telling you that something nasty will happen to you because of your choice. But choosing a religion should not be about "avoiding that team's 'hell'".
There is no "right" religion, only one that is "right" for you. Or maybe NONE for that matter. Read up on everything that's out there (try http://www.religioustolerance.org for starters). Find something that you can at least agree with 85%.
Oh yeah, and be wary of people who seem to have every component of a religion yet say "We're not really a religion, but more like a [way of life / relationship with a deity / etc.]".

I don't think there really is a right one, just one that you feel comfortable with. Religion is about finding comfort in spiritual practices. Choose a religion that you feel comfortable with. Do not let other people pick for you because it may not be the right one for you. And do not think that you may be in the wrong religion and you will go to hell for being in it. If there is a god then he should love everyone no matter what religion they are, as long as you acknowledge and worship him then you should be fine.

Agree with , Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light... give me thumbs down if you want, but that's what I believe and Christianity is the only religion that accepts you as you are and says that Faith is all that matters. In virtually every other religion, you spend your whole life following multiple rules and trying to earn God's favour. With Christianity, God will forgive you for anything if you are truly sorry and ask for His forgiveness and you know that once you believe you are safe. God bless xxx

Find the one that most closely agrees with what you already believe to be true.
If you do end up burning in hell, at least you'll be with the people who agree with you.
A perfect God, though, is supposed to be wise and forgiving. So even if you choose wrong, he'll respect you for trying to find the right way, right? So he'll forgive you, and you'll be fine.

Try some out and find out which one you feel the most comfortable in. See where God is leading you.
The most horrible thing that will happen is you will gain a lot of interesting experiences that you can reflect on. And that's not too bad...right?
I mean...don't join a suicide cult. I guess that would be the most horrible thing. But you know what I'm saying.

why not just come to Jesus without a religion for now, get to know Him and then let Him guide you to the right one..I am a christian but I don't have a one religion, just because there are way to many for me to pick from, so far I have no desire to join any at this time either, maybe later in life I will but not right now..If I were you I would just get a relationship started with God and let Him lead you in which way He wants you to go...

There are many religions because put in man a need to worship. There are many religions because of deception. And when you study them, they can't all be right because of contradicting beliefs. I chose Christianity. One reason is what the Bible teaches. Another is the accuracy in what the Bible says about things, such as science, and history.

Statistically, you are bound to. There have been 10's of thousands of religions, all claiming to the be the one and only True religion. No matter what you choose, the likelyhood is that you are going to choose wrong. So go with somebody fun, like the pagans.
