Apparently the romans held records of a bloke called jesus that was a general trouble maker (i was a while a go that I read it - so dont remeber where).

Do I believe there was a bloke about in the time period called jesus? yep!
Do I beleive what the bible says? - I say which one? and what reason was it writ for? the last question does indeed require some research lol. do some on that - the later versions are easier to find out about the earlier - well well well...

Why cant you actually get to know your own faith?

I can tell you of some people that died for a lot of other people - those in the world wars. They suffered many tempations. Thet suffered some very real horrors. They were very definatly human and real. try a ittle faith in humans, just in general. some bloke that supposedly died for all people, that may or may not have existed in a book re-writ many times over and often with more to do with politics expressed through religion (the biggest political podium of those times) doesnt really seem justified.

you asked the question, heres a reasonable answer.

If people need proof- LOOK AROUND!
Yes there is suffering, but if there wasn't, then we would be in Heaven already. If you lived in a perfect place, then you would nothing to live for or to look forward to.
And much suffering is self inflicted- lifestyles etc. But that can be demolished (at times) if you have faith in Christ Jesus.
However it is naive to think that if you believe in Jesus then suffering will stop.
But do just look around- beyond the hurting, but do not ignore it- at the world. Look at creation and look at yourself- made of the hands of an Almighty God. And not only that, He also came to earth as a human to endure earthly pain to eliminate sin. Now that... that is amazing!

A problem people have, despite the proof of the only Holy Spirit causing healings, providing gifts that people otherwise believed to be weaknesses and the ability of people to speak in tongues, to believe in Jesus still requires FAITH.
We cannot physically touch or see Jesus, for some people that is too much to handle- they cannot deal with believing in something they cannot see and hasn't been proved by science. But at times, science can't even prove science.
But that is the wonder of God, that is what makes our relationship with God so special... if He made it easy, then what's the point?
What's the point in living if you can't feel alive?

This is a philosophical question. There are two answers: 1)To believe in anything, it takes at a minimum, a small leap of faith. Then you are home, believing whatever you want and knowing your eternal meaning for existence. Not all people will take that small leap of faith. The most simple reasoning is , Why can't people just believe in Allah, or Budda or any other being that many humans believe to be supreme. It is taking that small leap of faith. 2) As you can attest from your readers, many demand proof from some system of metaphysical knowledge, like science. By the way, that also takes a small leap of faith.

Because there is no fact-based proof of his existence. Belief in something doesnt make it True.

IProof does not include the things science can't (yet) explain. Just because we cant explain something, it doesnt mean its from a higher being at work.

Also, the bible is a work of fiction. It was written between 300-400 AD.
In context, try to give me an accurate description of the events of the year 1650, without the use of computers, phones, TV etc. Hard isn't it?

Added to that, the powers that be (kings, queens, religious figures) have changed and edited the first copy (which, remember, was written through hearsay over 400 years so was full of poop anyway) to how they want it.

If I do "face God" then at least i can say that i wasn't pressured to believe in something that there was no proof of. I think he'd rank me higher than the people who were scared of going to "Hell" so said they believed through fear. At least i can say that i had a good life, and was a good person. Im sure he'd be proud of me for thinking for myself.

Belief should be a direct product of FACT. Unfortunatley, it usually isnt...

Because, as a piece of graffiti I saw recently said, "Jesus is a fictional character". The whole Jesus story is just the Christian version of the dying/resurrecting god-man myth that every civilisation has had its own version of.

On a side note, why do you Christians feel the need to force your beliefs on everyone else? Is it because you feel threatened by anyone who doesn't think the same way as you? Are you jealous of people who live more chilled-out lives where they don't have to feel guilty about silly things? Personally, I suspect it's a bit of both.

Because God's greatest gift and greatest curse is free will. No one can be forced to believe in Jesus as the Son of God. That's why faith is called faith. I believe absolutely in God and in Jesus as His Son. It's every individual's choice though. I have no doubt that Jesus lived and died for us. I speak of Him as my saviour and am often ridiculed or questioned. I have no real, solid proof. But I believe. Everyone can make their own choice that's God's gift and curse - like I said at the start.

Why should we, Christians are not willing to accept that maybe he didn't exist.Everyones entitled to their beliefs.

There is no physical proof that Jesus ever lived. There is no grave, no corpse. Even if he did exist, there is nothing to prove that he actually performed the said miracles The bible could just be an elaborate fairytale written thousands of years ago

Because Jesus of Nazareth is a fictional character.

Every part of the Jesus story was borrowed from earlier sources. Furthermore, the practice of Christianity serves only to enslave and confuse the practitioner. The continued practice of Christianity, in the end, results invariably in insanity and an inability to cope in a rational world.

Because for them, seeing is believing. It's much harder to have faith. Yes, I'm sure they will be shocked when they come face-to-face with God. But there's only so much we can do. After we tell them about God and pray for them, it's in their hands.

1 Corinthians 2:14 -- The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

To those who feel this way, I can understand your point-of-view. But even if you were right (which I disagree with), what have we lost? Nothing. We still have a great life, we have love and lots of happiness. We're not missing anything. But you can't say the same thing if we're right and you're wrong. Then you will have lost everything. So who will have lost more when everyone dies?

Or you'll be in for a big surprise when you die and face:::NOTHING.

I have a great book called "The Birth of Christianity" about how originally it was a political anti-Roman movement that got corrupted by Paul. It is based on as much history as the Bible. If you read that will you suddenly believe it?

Personally I'll chose to think both are wrong--neither really made any sense.
