So if you wear it because jesus died for you then would you still wear the symbol if it was a decapitated or mutilated being who was missing his head, or something of that nature?

Ilovecupcakes, it doesnt matter how YOU look at it. it is a symbol of torture wether you look at it sideways, upside down, or whatever way you wanna look at it. it shows a dead man who was beaten to death, how is that NOT torture?

The cross is a pagan symbol and was used by the Babylonians and the Egyptians in their worship of false gods.
If people have to have constant reminders of their faith, then how strong can their faith be?
2 Corinthians 5:7 --"for we walk by faith, not by sight;"
God is telling us we are not to use visible reminders of our faith, so we should not have them or wear them or display them on churches.

First of all Christians don't wear a crucifix, (which still shows Jesus on the Cross) Those are Catholics and they are not the same religion.
Christians wear a cross which doesn't show Christ still on the cross. It is not a symbol of the suffering that Christ endured but instead the empty cross celebrates the fact that Jesus concurred death and rose again. The empty cross doesn't represent suffering it represents a glorious victory, it is loud Voice crying out "Jesus is Risen!"
I don't know why Catholics wear a crucifix that shows Jesus still on the cross, I'm Christian and I only know enough about Catholicism to know that it is a very different religion from protestant Christianity.

Most Christians wear a cross that has noone on it. This represents that Jesus died for us and then rose from dead. So the empty cross is not a symbol of torture and death, it is a symbol for a risen, living savior.

All crosses, inclusive of the fylfot/swastika and the emblem of Tammuz the Christians accompanied as their very own "christian go", are sunlight wheels. They characterize the promise of the return of the sunlight each and each morning. The go did not originate as a logo or as a torture gadget, yet particularly as a logo of the deified sunlight. The torture of Christ on a go and then later the torture and homicide of Pagans and Heathens by utilising Christ's followers below that comparable image, did not happen till 1000's of years later, basically like the affiliation of the fylfot/swastika with the Nazi regime did not happen till 1000's of years later. i'm desirous approximately reclaiming historic symbols from the undesirable adult males, btw. If we don't reclaim those historic Pagan and Heathen symbols then the undesirable adult males win. do not enable the undesirable adult males win. Edit: 9th Grader, "adultery" is cheating on your life better half/better half/notwithstanding you opt for to call it. i think of you meant "idolatry". Now go do your homework or study a dictionary because of the fact it is fantastically unhappy whilst a Norwegian knows English greater perfect than you do. not attempting to be recommend, basically attempting to be sure you do not embarrass your self sooner or later and particularly make your mamma proud.

Man people have a sure way of thinking some weird things up! The Crucifix is wore out of love, and respect to what Jesus did for us. It is our way to show love and gratefulness.

I find the church has many strange customs, eating flesh, drinking blood, and I recently went to my sisters church and there were twelve crosses on the wall with jesus nailed to it in a variety of positions.

Symbol of their martyrdom. Oh, poor things. They want to make sure that you know that JESUS DIED FOR YOU. The baptist church in my community puts up an enormous sign that says that e v e r y.....s i n g l e......E a s t e r. The letters are like a foot and a half high each.
