It's called "argument from outrage" - Richard Dawkins is a pro at it.
They are afraid of the Truth because it means submitting their will to God and not being able to do what ever they want.
Any so-called intellectual, philosophical argument can be easily refuted by one of the many brilliant Christian aplologists - William Lane Craig, Ravi Zacharius, J.P. Holding, Glenn Miller, J.P. Moreland.

Everyone has a right to express their opinion.

But I hear equally ridiculous comments being made about other religions and other peoples opinions by Chrisitians.

And some of the comments I have heard being made about Christians seem to be more correct a lot of the time than ridiculous.

But I do think that all religions need to be tolerant of each other. And believers and non-believers also should exercise tolerance.

Same reasons, different religion.

Ignorance and blind hatred are the top 2 reasons I can think of.

We christians believe some ridiculous things and love to try to get other people to believe with us. We can not help but leave ridiculous comments.

Consider the damage done to its God Concept when it was discovered that Priests had been molesting children for decades and 30/40% of its Priests are gay. The Catholic Churches in Europe are now empty.

Most claims against Christianity and any other religion are easily verifiable. Truth isn't ridiculous.
