No WAY is Iran any kind of threat to the US, this is so like the run-up to the Iraq invasion, too similar lies being told. Nothing seems to have been learned from the death, destruction and misery caused there.

The only positive thing to me is there'll be no UK assistance this time, Brown ain't a warmonger like Blair was.

Ah yes john galt0, i seem to remember Colin Powell making a fool of himself *and the US* presenting similar *evidence* at the UN. =)

Most people *not Western politicians* would say there are more comparisons between Blair, Bush and Hitler than could ever be said of Ahmadinejad Tyler. I don't doubt your sincerity but think you believe too much propaganda.

Hmmm,....... al qaeda again, you might like to read my post on it's non-existence. =)

I gave you the thumbs up KaiserBill, like your answer very much. Don't take it personally if some disagree, some don't see the big pic as well as you do.

Nothing simple about your thoughts BuddingAuthor, a good answer. Afraid the toilet is one of the uses al qaeda is put to tho, it doesn't mean the base in the way Westerners think of it, to sit is more accurate. Hence it's less dignified usage. =)

PS Would love to read your thoughts on the question relating to al qaeda tho, hope you do post an answer. =)

It looks like it, considering they are desperately trying to blame EVERYTHING on Iran these days... the military build-up in that region recently would suggest that they are planning another invasion, they just need to get popular support first.

Oh and please don't think Brown won't support him. He will. He is a puppet working for the same people as Blair, and he IS a warmonger.. he voted for the Iraq war and has no plans to withdraw. Blair and Brown are basically no different.

I was just getting a bit frustrated over a question I have posted ref Iraq, and noticed your question.
Half way through reading all your stuff I came across the translation of 'al qaeda' which actually is 'the base' or 'sits on the base' it certainly does not mean 'I am going to sit on the bog'! Having read that bit I almost gave up in disgust, however I'm still here.
I thought I may have oversimplified my person thoughts on the question of troop withdrawal from Iraq, but apparently not.
I will try the same approach with your question, but my opinion is worth no more than yours really, or anyone elses.
I just look at the facts as I see them !
Iraq was and still is a complete disaster, a supposed despot was deposed, not too difficult was it, BUT then we have the aftermath, what do we do about that? Leave them to it?
Right now for my over simplified thoughts on Iran,
Apart from the rest of the Arab nation the Chinese have invested a lot of capital into Iran, they arent going to be very happy if the place is blitzed are they?
I'm not suggesting this would stop any attack on the place, maybe cause a few hicups!
The aftermath of such an invasion would be unthinkable, the total deaths of innocents would be horrendious. No I am not a 'bleeding heart' Liberal!!
I can remember the troops coming back from Vietnam, they were treated like sh*t!
I think the American people put an end to the Veitnam thing, I also belive the majority of American people have heard enough lies and BS about WMD in Iraq, I'm pretty sure the allies have biten off more than they can chew trying to sort out Iraq, they won the 'war' but couldnt stop at that, now look at the mess they have to clean up.
Bush and Brown ?
I think they will work together as long as they are backed by a majority of political parties. We do live in a democracy dont we?
The armed forces from both countries will follow orders, but what are the people , like you and I , of both contries going to do?
Write nasty letters to yahoo answers?
No once again I am not a Liberal, I am certainly anti all religions also.
I was in the British army on active service in places most folk have forgotten all about, Cyprus, Aden, Mombasa. I can remember the Americans saying we had to quit the Suez canal, (or else)! I can remember our brave British troops 'keeping the peace' in N Ireland by ransacking houses!!
I can remember being told frequently what a great job we were doing for Britian.
What a load of BS and yet it continues, !
What do I suggest? All I can suggest is people speak up more and if he majority want war, or see no alternative so be it, end of us all!!
I'm a happy go lucky sort of guy really!

Interesting dilemna for an elected official. Fail to act and the public destroys you--act and the public destroys you. the question you ask is similiar to the one's the peace loving Brits asked in the early 1930's. Should we take Adolph Hitler out before he causes a problem? They didn't act, Neville Chamberlin was pilloryied for "peace in our time". In a war weary world Winston Churchill had the temerity to suggest that when Germany and Japan are defeated the Soviet Union be dealt with. Millions would have been saved if Germany had been dealt with--that is a historicl fact. In the light of what the world dealt with for the next 50 years, dealing with the Soviets before they became what they became would have saved millions upon millions of lives also. Iran funds and harbors al queda, iran fighters are in IRAQ, Iran has a nuclear reactor capable of manufacturing weapons grade nuclear material. To not look realistically at threats --put your head in the sand and hope they go away--is child like. We Americans have a difficult time understanding long term commitment. I'm not quite sure with all the folks like you out there the Americans of the 18th century would have had the guts to last a decade of war for independance if they had to depend on your support

I certainly hope bush attacks Iran.
Oil rich Iran is fundamentally engaged in the training and funding of terror groups worldwide, more noticably in Iraq and Palestine.
Without funding and a constant supply of crazed Imams ,terrorism will dwindle to nothing.iraq will have its first opportunity for peace and the Palestinians, long time the pawn of Iran and Syria will have the chance to negotiate peace with Israel.
I would hope that Britain will be of assistance in any military activity against the enemy.I wouldnt like to think that the soldiers of our friends and allies were refused our help whilst they die for freedom and democracy worldwide.
We must unite against the enemy and never stop until the job is done.

All this talk of Iran having terrorists, their training camps and equipment and exporting them to a nearby neighbour reminds me of an incident from a few years ago..

In 1960 a group of militants were trained, funded and equiped covertly by the government of the country they were residing in. With this country's support and planning the group went on to attempt an illegal invasion of another country in 1961.
The group were called Brigade 2506, comprised of Cuban ex-nationals living in the USA and the incedent in question was the Bay of Pigs Invasion.
To this day there are still ex-pat Cuban terrorist groups living, recruiting and training in the USA, as well as dangerous individuals (many convicted of terrorism and murder, and also trained and bankrolled by the CIA) who were not only allowed to live in the US, but some were even freed from custody by President Bush.

"If you harbor terrorists, you're a terrorist" was the famous rhetoric from the same President Bush - utter hypocrisy.

EDIT: Right now I have an equal number of thumbs up and down for my answer. I wouldn't mind this but so does the suggestion that we nuke the entire country of Iran, innocent men, women, children and all! Is it any wonder the world is in such a mess?

Do you deny that Iran is helping the insurgents in Iraq? Do you deny the photographs of training camps in Iran? Do you deny that Iran is transporting improved IEDs to Iraq that are killing Americans? Iran has already committed war-like acts. This country made a mistake in Vietnam by not recognizing the war was being fought from Cambodia as well as Vietnam. If Iran or you don't want Iran attacked then have Iran pull their nose out of Iraq and tell them to stand down on the war-like rheotoric. Iran could try to close the Straits of Hormuz and that threatens the West.

Invade Iran, that would be a big mistake....

what we should do is: Iran has 10% of the worlds oil, yet they only have 5 oil refineries and they have to import 70% of thier petrol.... right now they have a gas shortage and gas rations are in effect.... most of thier imported oil comes from the persian gulf....

so with all that in mind, we send 5 cruise missles to the refineries, and use our omnipotent navy to blockade the whole persian gulf, nothing goes in or out without our approval... that should get the iranian people to step up to thier governent.. cuz the changes have to come from within, we can´t force the change on Iran,

put we can force the enviornment for change.

Man I WISH would Bush would actually does take over the damn countries and their oil so all this talk about how Bush is doing all this war crap for the oil and I have not seen a drop in gas prices yet to the way it was before 911. I say let him do it.

Too many people ***** and moan and cry about how Bush is going after oil from these countries. Have any of you seen any of the oil fields being used by the US? NO YOU HAVEN'T! I couldn't give a crap about you people who are against the war. You people should be the ones who have died in the 911 attacks and those people should be happy and alive living another day being thankful that our President is doing what he can to keep something like that from happening again in our beloved country. Look at other countries they have not even come close to stopping terrorists attacks in their cities.

This story was carried by the news site Whatdoesitmean.com for some time. It appears that Bush wants to go out with a bang as his reputation is already down the pan. I just hope the rest of America catches up with him before he takes them all down with him.

Iran will destroy itself it's only a matter of time . Their big fear is a civil war .The mullah's are finding it difficult to depress the new young educated who want changes now. As far as Brown goes he supported the invasion of the Iraq. You dreaming some countries need to be delt with in a harsh way, Iran is one of them.
