To you its a torture symbol to the people who proudly show it off it is a symbol that 'reminds Christians of God's act of love and atonement in Christ's sacrifice at Calvary - "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." The cross also reminds Christians of Jesus' victory over sin and death, since it is believed that through His death and resurrection He conquered death itself."

I don't have a cross on my car or in my house. I don't even own one, but here's a different view of Christ's instrument of torture:
"But may it never be that I should boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." Galatians 6:14, written by Paul the apostle.
It all depends on your point of view.

I know lots of people that show off scars to friends and have tats in some spots that must have really hurt. There is something about society that admires pain.
No need to label anyone a freak or anything else, for that matter.

A lot of christians display a fish on the rear of their car. The fish symbol is the adaptation of an earlier pagan symbol which looks like this () and represented the female genital organs.
Still... better than an instrument of torture I guess...

Actually I believe he died on a stake, and i don't get it either, it shouln't matter what he died on, whats most important is what he did on earth and the message he sent and that he sacrificed himself for sinful man(John 3:16), you wont catch me sporting a stake i promise!

The Cross, though an instrument used in the execution of Jesus, is a symbol of the Sacrifice that Jesus made for us, and reminds us of this sacrifce. because of His death we have Life. this is what it means.
