How is the general public responding to Windows Vista?
Is it being embraced, or rejected? I have not read anything good about it yet compared to XP. Could it be possible to be rejected like the Betamax VCR of the 80's?

As far as I am aware, Vista is not popular. Self builders are still using XP, if they can get it. Microsoft had to go as far as recalling "all copies" of XP that had not been sold by retailers or installed by PC builders. This was to force retailers to only sell Vista and builders to install Vista. The reasons Vista was not as successful as XP is simply that Microsoft are charging more than double the US price to UK customers and they blame the exchange rates. If the exchange rate is to blame, the UK should be getting Vista for 25 - 30% cheaper than the US. The UK also has to pay over 33% more than mainland Europe. As all versions of Windows, Vista has it's problems with fixes and updates. Basically, those that build their own machines are trying to avoid Vista and Industry has not upgraded to the latest version. Most major corporations are sticking with XP and are not planning to change until XP is no longer supported. Both Industry and the General Public, in the UK are fed up with being forced to pay extortionate prices for US goods, thus subsidising both the US and European customers. Take DTP as an example. A US package will run into hundreds of pounds for a cheap DTP package. Some go into the thousands of pounds. In the UK, we have Serif and their DTP (PagePlus) starts at around £90 but can be bought for as little as £10 to £30 when they have offers on. Open source Operating Systems range from free to around £20, Vista can run into a couple of hundred. Open Source Office packages start at "free" and Microsoft Office can cost a few hundred. No wonder the UK has turned it's back on Vista! More and more companies, Local Authorities and Government Agencies are turning towards Open Source now.

Vista looks great, but is definatly not user friendly. I don't understand why if they wanted up update XP they had to change everything about it.

vista sucks.
I have ultimate edition on the computer i'm posting on, and it's going to be reformatted and returned to xp media center edition.

the only people who like it are eye candy freaks.
