I was married for 7 years and have 3 great kids. about 2 months ago i met this really great guy and started a casual relationship, he wanted more and against my better judgement decided to give it a try, we talked about all the pros and cons of the relationship before hand and he was all right with everything. About 3 weeks into the relationship he told me that he had fallen in love with me and t hat he wanted to spend his life with me, i told him i would wait for him while he was at sea, well about 2 months into the relationship he started pulling away and growing very distant and finally told me that his ex girlfriend from when he was 14 wanted to get back together and that he was still in love with her and he wanted to give her a second chance, he said that it would have never worked out anyway because i already have a family from my previous marriage and that he wanted his own family one day, how can a guy be in love with you one day and then just so coldhearted the next?

men are like that unfeeling , but wait and see it wont work out with the xgf , he built up this fantasy picture of her, but once there back together he will start to resent that she dumped him all those years ago. then he will come crawling on his knees begging for a second change by then you will be over him ,then you can tell him where to go

Hey. I am very sorry to hear your plight. I really hope things work out for you for the best. So whats the answer to your question? Well, I think there are too many people in this world, just like the person that you experienced, that say and do things that they do not really mean in their hearts, especially love. Its not something that you can just feel or say, it only shows through sacrifice for one another. I am really sorry and hurt that you have had this bad experience. You should have said why is this guy so coldhearted. There are about three billion guys in the world. If you can show evidence that each and every one of them are coldhearted, then I will consider your question to be legitimate the way you have worded it.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of men out there who could tell similar stories of coldhearted things that women did to them. Let's hope we don't generalize it to all women the way you have generalized your experience to all men. There are good and bad of everything. You found a bad one. I'm sorry for your luck, but that's not all of us.

no disrespect intended, but you are on your own with 3 kids, you need to think about being a little more mature about the way you approach relationships - and life for that matter. From the sounds of it, your kids can't be very old. Do you realize the responsibility you are facing? again, no disrespect, but it's time to wake up.

The guy you desribe doesn't know what he wants. He has some maturing to do. We're not all like that, so the right guy will come along. As for this guy, forget him. He is still a wanderer and if you stayed with him, you'd probably be wondering with suspicion all the time.

He wasn't in love with you. If he was he won't have been talking to his old girlfriend. As Dr. Laura says, raise your kids and forget about guys. Believe me your kids will give unconditional love and will always be there for you. I'm not saying not to go out and have fun, but don't go out looking, if the right one comes along you'll know it.
