This would be for a average priced carpet with pading and installation in the New York city area. I know it can vary greatly with the type of material used but I am just trying to get a general idea of the cost. Thaanks.

Not sure of labor costs in your area. I will advise you to get the best pad you can afford though. This will make even a cheaper carpet feel more plush.

200 square feet so 13 x 15.......?
Wool? Synthetic? Blend?
Type of pile?
Investigate what type of underlay you want.. rubber or felt or ....
Check the size of the room against the width of the loom of carpet, so you can work out what length or lengths you need - you might be able to pick up a spare piece and then hire a carpet layer separately to lay your carpet.
Look around Greenwich Village.

Varies on the type of material, but around $1500 - $2000.
