It is not a contradiction at all because all people who have heard the gospel which tells them of the love of God, and the sacrifice made for man by Jesus, have EQUAL opportunity to accept Christ as their Saviour. It is THEIR choice to accept Him or reject Him so, if they reject Him and miss spending eternity with Him that is through their actions not GOD'S. As for those who have never heard of Jesus - and there are still some who have not - God will judge them according to what they DO know, not what they don't know, but everyone should be capable of believing that there is A GOD. Romans 1:20 makes this clear when it says "For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:" This shows that all people on this earth should be able to accept that a Creator (someone very much higher than themselves) made all the things they see and should be able to accept that there is a God. If they don't then they are without excuse. This refers mainly to atheists who say that there is no God whatsoever.

Job was trusted by God and for a very good reason. Very many of us would not be able to take even a small part of Job's treatment. Job got His reward in the end. He always trusted God.

Theologically speaking, yes. I think there's more to the story, too. Like a theological point of Man & whether he deserves anything from God. We can extrapolate this to salvation itself, and whether Man deserves Heaven through a sufficiently holy life. Catholics, are you listening? Just what does God "owe" us?

I find it interesting that those who do not believe in the Bible always point to Job as proof of how horrible God is. They take "Job's side", so to speak, without ever acknowledging that Job himself never wavered in his belief or trust in God. Perhaps Job understood some things about God that you don't? :)

Well sir ... to be tested the way that Job was tested to prove a point to Satan, I would say would be an extremely difficult test with extreme rewards in heaven but most will never get that type of testing because the faith is not near as strong as it was back then..... because Satan has more people deceiving the world with lies .... and therefore doesn't have very many Job's of the world who are to be considered a threat to him..... unfortunately

The Book of Job is beautifully written, but it is obviously written as a play. Why do you suppose it’s in the poetry section of The Old Testament?
BTW, Talking Donkey, my cat is telling me she’s hungry. Funny how I can understand her perfectly. If I ever abused her and she protested, I’m sure I would understand that too.

God didn't treat Job that way,, It was Satan, because God was proving to Satan that Job was a good and faithfully servant,, Satan said it was only because he had such a good life,, take away all he has and see if he still praises you,,, God allowed Satan to do anything he wanted as long as he did not kill Job,, In turn God rewarded Job by returning all he had lost and more...

Do you know the whole story? First of all, God didn't do anything to Job... Satan did. Secondly, after Job stayed firm in his appreciation and love for Jehovah, Jehovah gave him back TWICE what Satan had taken away from him.. twice the children, livestock, lands... all if it. I admire Job for not blaming God, and for remaining steadfast in his resolve not to even in the face of his wife and friends trying to get him to! It must have been difficult, but it shows it CAN be done, even in the direst of circumstances.

First of all God did not treat Job like that, God allowed satan to treat Job like that, & secondly, Job said That he will never stop serving God.

If everyone read a parable, took it out of context, and tried to apply it to situations and concepts that had nothing to do with that parable, would God be justified in renouncing us?
