I hate the police too. Like Ice Cube said back in 1989 "and you know without a gun they cant get none..."

Perhaps you don't live in an area where being mugged is not a rarity. People who have been robbed, beaten up, stalked, raped, threatened, etc., or just must frequent hazardous neighborhoods are more likely to carry a gun. I'm sure there are people who have a gun to make them feel like a big man, but there are many others who have just been violated and have a gun as a way to protect themselves.
