oh dear - well, you probably realized by now that piercing your nose yourself was not such a brilliant idea.

Be sure to keep it clean and watch carefully for signs of infection. See your doctor immediately if you think it is getting infected.

Good luck!

Like any wound you need to keep this clean or it has the possibility of becoming infected. Also a suggestion. If you really want your nose pierced consider going to a professional, it will be much less painful and they will use sterile instruments to decrease the risk of getting an infection.

The answers here have been quite reasonable with their advice. Piercing is a skill and I do not recommend self-piercing. Cleansing the area with hydrogen peroxide, betadine, soap and applying a topical agent such as Neosporin or Polysporin should do the trick. One individual who wrote of the horrors of infected piercings - although I have seen such - is not responding to your specific case. His answer gets a 'thumbs down'. If there are any signs of infection - such as swelling, redness, warmth - see your physician. I have saved many a piercing including my daughter Julie's nose ring. Her mother wanted me to say it had to come out. I wrote Julie a prescription for a $4 (at WalMart) topical antibiotic and daughter and nose ring are just fine. I have done body piercing since 1981 and again - this is a technical skill - and I do not advise self-piercing. Best wishes for you and your half-pierced nose. Have you considered having an expert complete the piercing?

if the skin is broke it can get infected if you finish the piercing all the way it can get infected. I'm a piercer. if you finish the job do not use peroxide or neosporoin and don't touch it with your dirty hands that's how it gets infected... neosporoin helps make scar tissuee you don't want that you want a hole right.. peroxide will eat away freshly healed tissu and you don't want that right..use bactine or alcohol..good luck.

I had mine professionally peirced and your supposed to clean it three time a day with non scented antibacterial soap and saline slolution (like you would use for contacts). DO NOT USE NEOSPORIN! Its keeps the peircing moist and will harbour bacteria. Hope this helps.

You should keep it very clean while it's healing. Put some neosporan cream on it. I might have spelled that wrong, but it's an antibiotic cream good for healing cuts and wounds.
