We adopted a stray kitten into our home about a two weeks ago. He adjusted very well with our other cats and started playing and acting like every other kitten I've seen. Two days ago, I noticed that he seemed kind of lazy and wasn't eating very much. Last night, he was very lethargic. He ate only a few bites of food, and I dribbled some water in his mouth (that perked him up just a little, so I'm sure he's somewhat dehydrated at least). I have not noticed any diarrhea and he has not been vomitting. He just won't run around or play like he had been earlier this week, but he does like for me to hold him. Do I need to take him to the vet?

Yes, you definitely need to take him to the vet. Any animal that is lethargic and will not eat/drink needs to go to the vet. Best not to wait too long either.
Could be something simple to fix, like intestinal parasites. But, even something as simple as instestinal parasites can kill a small animal quickly.

Did this kitten acquire it is vaccinations formerly the vet offered it to you? you will possibly be able to desire to make advantageous approximately that. The dry heave/coughing up could be hairball appropriate, cats throw up for a great form of motives. Any time you get a sparkling kitten or cat, you will possibly desire to style of confine it to a smaller component of your place till it gets used to issues. it is not slightly astonishing that a 5 month previous kitten hisses and claws at canines that it shows in a very new environment. attempt isolating the kitten out of your different kitten and from the canines for an afternoon or 2, and steadily enable the recent kitten get used to its new atmosphere.

Any stray should be checked by a vet before introducing it to your other pets. He could have any number of ailments that could be passed to your others, like Feline Leukemia or worms. But kudos to you for adopting a little one in need of a home.

Stray cats can carry illnesses that your indoor cats can catch pretty easily. He could even have Feline Lukemia. Get him checked out ASAP before your other cats get any symptoms and it's too late.

Take him in ASAP, he could have gotten into poison. He needs his shots anyway. Go now.
