Stop worrying about pleasing your other students, kick the loudmouth up to the dean of boys. And stop being sad and hurt, some kids just live to aggravate and if it weren't you it would be someone else.

I'm afraid I don't really understand your scene here except that you, a teacher, were hurt when a rude student was ugly in front of the class. One of the other answers said this is a grade school student.

I don't care what age the student is, as a teacher, I don't put up with that. Whatever else you learn in my class, you're going to learn to respect me and my rules. Sit the kid in the naughty chair, send the kid to the principal or counselor, have the director call his parents, but don't let him back in your classroom until he's apologized.

And NEVER get your feelings hurt. This is not personal. You're an adult trying to make him do what he doesn't want to do--structured activity, that is, work. He would say this to any adult who made him work. But that doesn't mean you should allow it in your classroom.

Take care of the situation immediately or the student will not remember what they did and connect the consequence with the action.

Teaching is a really hard job, I know, and you're an angel to even try. Keep your chin up and don't let the students run the show.

I agree with justagrandma, dont try to be there friend as you will get no respect at all this way, in fact I would say this is damaging to there upbringing and leads to a lack of respect in authority figures. Just kick him out or to the principal if you cant deal with it. The others will get the idea from this that discipline is not a democratic process or up for discussion. If you cant do this you are in the wrong career.

Zero tolerance for that type of rude behavior.
If you allow it from one child...it is only a matter of time that others will follow suit.
If you feel this need intervention, send him / her to the office and ask for a referral for a councilor to evaluate the child.

Good luck and get some back bone or teaching will be a has been, not a career.

I would not put up with this behavior from a student. Send him to the principal or upper hand to deal with. This kind of behavior if aloud to go on will escalate into the classroom and your whole class will begin treating you this way if they think they too can get away with it.

principal for that one. also find out if the student has problems with doing school work. sometimes the dull one's try to distract the class to try hiding their ignorance. ?remain silent to gv u face? did u do something to lose face with that student?

since it's in the toddler/preschool area i assume it's of that age....you need to stand strong no matter what age & be the boss. the child is not the teacher, you are. if he talks back you either need to remove him from the class or stand right in front of him (being really tall) & say you may not speak to me like that & if it continues I will send you out of this class & call your parents, how do you think they will feel that you were kicked out of class (since i assume they pay for him to go they prob won't be happy--kids don't learn these things on their own--he's heard this somewhere else--maybe parents)

You need to pull that student aside and explain to him that it is very disrepectful for him to speak to an adult that way. You may also want to contact his parents to let them know about their childs behavior.

the best way to stop someone is to ignore them, but that does not always work so the next best thing is to make him seem trivial, to react strongly to him gives him power and importance, but to just make him a nuisance and small one at that might do the trick...good luck!
