Did Bhagwan Mahavir and Mahatma Buddha ever Met?

Here is an interesting question…

Bhagwan Mahavir, the 24th Teerthankar of Jainism and Mahatma Buddha, the founder of Buddhism both were contemporary personalities. Both were in same region and we can find that both were visiting Rajgrahi, Vaishali, Shravasti and many other towns again and again. Many of the kings and other famous personalities at that time were disciples of both of them.

Now the question is Did Bhagwan Mahavir and Mahatma Buddha ever met? Is there any referance to this in Pali and Prakrit texts?

I am curious about this.

Althou Mahavira and Buddha were known to be contempraries, records states they probably never met....however even that is unlikely as they were two of the foremost spiritual leaders of India and living in the same era..............they were also probabaly related to each other as most noble familes in the gangetic plain were tired to each other through matrimonial alliances.

But there is a possiblilty they may sought spiritual guidance from a common guru, although there is little evidence as to that.
Buddha is know to have had only two gurus,Alara Kalama and Uddhaka Ramaputta.

Siddhārtha Gautama lifetime from circa 563 BCE to 483 BCE, while some more recent scholars have suggested dates around 410 or 400 BCE for his death.[1] This alternative chronology has not yet been accepted by other historians.[2]

Mahavira (वर्धमान महावीर lit. Great Hero) (599 – 527 BC, though possibly 549 – 477 BC) is the name most commonly used to refer to the Indian sage Vardhamana (Skt, "increasing") who established what are today considered to be the central tenets of Jainism.

I respect Mahatma Ji. He is a responsive politician. his thoughts were based on religious high thinkings. He had some spiritual practise and even may had some religious meditational success too. But Ganghiji could not be equated with Jesus or Buddha. Jesus and Buddha are of different fields. Their teachings were empowered by religious spirit. But teachings of Ganghiji was empowered by religious findings. Both Gandhiji and Jesus were assassinated. Jesus resurrected but Gandhiji for the last time only could prayed to the LORD as 'Ha Ram' . Whether Buddha at the end of his life got 'Nirvan'.

If so, they must have Meeted after they died.

After all the Middle and Far East names you were able to spell, do you think you could use the right tense for "meet?"

I am sure they knew about each other. But other than that, (unfortunately), there is no concrete evidence that the two actually met.
