grevious? doesn't grevious mean serious bodily harm?
I would think a more appropriate word would be egregious, which means 'particularly bad or offensive'.
I do however agree with you that it is egregious that certain people of religious faith honestly think that bad things that happen to people are a 'gift from God'.
Jesus, by means of his healing of the sick and even the raising of the dead, was telling us that is a way, God does not want us, nor our loved ones to suffer illness, or die. This popular mentality that, somehow it is God's will, that our children die from horrible diseases, thus making us terribly sad, is nothingless than lunacy.
As for the 'Bible never changes', I have studied the textual content of the Bible from references to the original language words. (I do not personally read Hebrew/Chadee, nor Koine Greek, yet their are so many cross references available, as to find the sources reliable), and I have not been able to find anything but synonym based variables as regards the historic and translational reliability of the entire Holy Sciptures.
As for the delineation "New" or "Old" testaments? There is no such thing in the scrolls of antiquity. This labeling of the Hebrew/Chaldee portion(Old), and the Greek portion,(New),
is a publisher's addition that was unknown as a separation to the writers of the Bible.

I am not sure why anyone would spout such nonsense.I can assure you that the position concerning such, is not biblically founded...
By the way, please consider joining me in donating, regularly to "St. Jude Children"s hospital,as these brave young children are battling cancer,in it's many and varied manifestations. I mention it because it is germain to your specific example)

A person went to a lot of trouble to ask a question worth reading, and answering, and got this as a reply -
" too many things to think about........."
I don't know if that's point gaming, or just plain ignorant.
Or a reflection of the lack of intellectual capacity on the part of the answerer....

"The bible's right because the bible says so"
"Mankind did not come from monkeys" (in reference to thinking that science says mankind came from monkeys when it doesn't).
