Mapquest has their Beta Build A Route feature. It takes a bit of fiddling to get it to do what you want.

Type in your starting point and a destination that is a shorter distance away, and on your desired route. Then at the bottom of the directions there is an "add a stop" button. Click that. If you route is complicated, you can keep adding a stop.

use google maps, you can drag your route along roads you want to go on. its really cool

Find a small town along that highway and add that to your listing.
