I was Diagnosed with Cancer in June. My Dr. Tried to refer Me to a Dr. reputed to be the best Gynocological Oncologist in Dallas. This DR flat out refused to treat my cancer, because I have no money, or insurance at this time, I could have set up a payment plan, but he would not even speak to me when I called his office!

Is there anyone out there with any suggestions to my question?

First let me say I understand your frustration, but I don't understand exactly why you think this doctor has done something wrong... would YOU keep going to your job if they told you they couldn't afford to keep paying you every month, and asked if they could set up a payment schedule that paid you much less, but for longer?

The doctor was just being honest with you!

Find a cheaper/publically-funded oncologist, they all use pretty much the same treatment protocols anyway, the price difference is for the nice waiting room, up-to-date magazines & fancy surroundings!

Best wishes with your treatment, don't stress it, it's just a touch of cancer: as long as you've caught it it's more of a pain and a nuisance than anything else, and after you are better you will realize NOTHING is really worth getting bothered about!

Best wishes...

1st of all get another Dr. he had no right to refuse to treat you because of no insurance . I don't care how good they say he is you don't want an in compassionate person treating you. You will be going through a lot. I should know because I'm going through treatment for metastatic breast cancer. Yes you can set up a payment plan through the billing dept. Talk to billing and ask if they have anything for low income people in the way of financial assistance. Hopefully they do where ever you go. Just remember Jesus is with you and will help you through this, just leave it all to Him.
I did when I was told that I had cancer and I'm better now then I was a yr and 7 months ago. I'm not cancer free but the cancer in my spine is in check it's not spreading.
Please let me how things are going. If you need to talk I'll listen. Just e-mail me at cyncy55@tds.net
God be with you.

Cancer is very, very expensive to treat. I will be up front and tell you that you will probably be turned down by most drs. You need to get insurance or you will never be able to keep up with the cost of treatment. I work in a oncologist office and the daily cost of treatment for 1 pt can go up to $5,000 a day

Find another doctor. In Dallas, you certainly have a wide choice of oncologists. You can't make a doctor take you as a patient, whether or not you have insurance.

Doctors in private practice have no legal obligation to treat you (though there are ethical obligations, they are not enforceable). If your finances and lack of insurance are that bad, you'll have to go to Parkland hospital (assuming you are a Dallas County resident).

I think this is a legal question. Terrible of him, yes, but is it illegal I'm not sure. You might try calling an attorney who specializes in that kind of thing.. there should be several listed in the phone book. They will usually answer questions without charging anything. Good Luck.

contact your local DHS office and see if they have options for you. i have cancer and am disabled for other reasons, my state has taken excellent care of most of my expenses, which are astronomical. cancer is sooooo expenses. you have enough to worry about, getting treatment should not be one of them. Good Luck and God bless.

first, i am very sorry to here about your c
I am not sure the law behind it but he is suppose to atleast try to make an apoitment.
If you are strugling with money, apply for midicare. and never quit
PS treten him to sue or something
but beside you don't want any doctor treating you who is not passionate and motivation in helping you.
