Going to New York in early September, I really want to get a great hot dog, so tell me which of these places has the better dog, or if another place has better dogs, and why(taste, texture, seasoning, toppings, etc.)

Nathans - the seasoning mixture is as close to perfect as you can get. The outer casing gets so crisp. Also, Grey's Papaya has better hot dogs than Papaya King - if you're not in Brooklyn, try Gray's Papaya - one in Greenwich Village on the corner of 8th Street and Sixth Avenue and there's one on the Upper West Side on the corner of Broadway and 72nd - $3.50 for two hot dogs and a delicious fresh tropical fruit drink - no seats - you eat at a stand-up counter facing the street.

without a doubt Papaya King. Nathan's was great when it was in Coney Island, but it's not the same now that it's sort of a franchise. Papaya King is a speciality, it is a part of NYC, it is it's own place, it has well cooked hot dogs that have hot dogs with taste that have been grilled just right and taste like meat, not rubber. Also, the place has the best drinks to go with our dog. Nathan's isn't what it was, it's just some kind of rubber dogs now, not any better than the "dirty dogs" you get at the corner or every street. They don't have that wonderful grilled taste that you want. Who needs a rubberband, I can go home and pop a hot dog in the microwave and spend a lot less money.

I say go to Nathans on Coney Island. That way you can kill 2 birds with 1 stone - have a great frankfurter and ride the famous Coney Island coaster!!! Not to mention the fact that September is the perfect time of year to visit Coney Island. Whatever you choose, have a great time in NYC!!!!

I prefer Nathan's, they're juicy without being overly heart stopping. I don't think Papaya King's are very good. But it depends on what YOU like.

Wow, tough question - you'll need to find out for yourself, because everybody's tastes are different. You also need to throw a third in there: Katz's Delicatessen. Between the three, you'll be in hot dog heaven.

Nathan's are the best. But be near a bathroom about an hour later.
