It bugs me too!! Thank you for posting this. It seems we are not allowed to disagree with anyone or anything without being labeled something. If they suggest that you have an "irrational fear", which is usually what a phobia is, then you are the one with the problem. It's a blame game. It's the same thing with homophobic. Those words are used as a way to force people to accept something that shouldn't be accepted by suggesting you don't know any better.
God Bless.

My friend,
My mother was not saved-actually was harmed-by her doctors till she died. Do I condemn the entire medical profession? Though I confess a definite edginess towards the suckers, no. So, we have problems with some Muslims, and the solution is to kiss the shooting match of them off? Hey, I think you're one step behind the vaunted "Home Guard". But you see, so far, so far, anti-Christians aren't worried about getting blown up by Christians; they just don't lik'em. Fear, is what defines "phobia". Not dislike, hatred, the desire to kill, or anything else. It's just about fear.
If you are afraid of - all - Muslims, I'm afraid the word "Islamaphobe" may be appropriate. Don't feel too bad. I'm suffering from the phobia that you are part of a vast majority.

Islamophobia is a controversial term.
Kenan Mallik in his article "The Islamophobia Myth" has stated that the concept of Islamophobia confuses the discrimination of Muslims with criticism of Islam and is used as a tool to silence any legitimate criticism of Islam as a religion and that this even includes moderate muslim reformers themselves. Liberal Muslims interested in reform are left unsupported because they are wary of being accused of Islamophobia. Muslim liberals who need to receive solidarity and support are left high and dry because instantaneous charges of Islamophobia intimidate the people who could offer it.

Yes, like the term homophobia. It is used by people who champion one side but don't know how to use logic and good arguments to prove their point. I have always said that if I were a Christian, I would consider islam the religion of satan. And I can prove this by their words and deeds.

too true.
its not a phobia to disagree with something. And even if it was, it doens't mean that the thing you are 'scared' of isn't wrong.
Like Naziophobia, ok call me a Naziophobe, go ahead, it doesn't make Nazism acceptable
(note, I'm NOT comparing Islam to Nazism, just illustrating a point)

just another petty label to try and belittle people with our views, and obviously seen as more civilised than "filthy terrorist paki bastard" your on a hiding to nothing, mate! my advice, always stand up to these, usually well educated but completely lacking in any form of common sense, sympathisers.
just an after thought! maybe the sympathisers are Islamophobic, (scared of or Islam) cause they always seem to have their tongues up Muslims ar*es.

I am not afraid of Islam, I know by the teachings of a very good friend that it is a religion of peace, not hatred.
We can find extremists in every quarter of society, religious or not (with the exception of Bhuddism, I have never heard anything 'wrong' about Bhuddism).
It bugs me that we are constantly blaming the masses for the deeds of a few.

While I will totally disagree with you on "suggesting that we should stop muslims come into our once wonderful country in light of the recent events". I feel that that statement is in fact very ignorant and wrong
I will say that it does seem to be used to try and kill any kind of debate
