Try to make him feel comfotable around the bag, sit him on your lap and slowly bring out the bag... dont make a sudden movement with it.

Thats strange... My cat loves plastic bags... She chases them all the time... Don't know why maybe because she was a stray and is used to them...

Best thing to do is to either not get out a plastic bag when your cat is around, or use plastic bags a little at a time with your cat until it becomes used to them!

Good Luck!

Just move slowly with plastic bags. Some cats are real sensitive to noise and sudden movements. I bought one of those bags that are made for cats to play with and my cats didn't like it, so I stuck my head into it and it was terribly loud. I have 3 cats and I am always careful not to startle them even though they are very tame.

It's the sound of the bag, my cat loves to play in them. You can try leaving the bag on the floor and letting him/her sniff and investigate the bag. Even keep the cats favorite treats in this bag, and let him see you take the food from there, It might not be long and you'll have to dump him out of a bag everytime you put away the groceries.

All cats act differently and have different personalities. The most you can do is watch to figure it out? Does it really matter? I have no problems with any types of bags and I own nine cats.

The sound may be scary, or the fear of being trapped. I would suggest not putting a plastic bag near your cat.

Your cat and my cat are alike, I have to take out the trash its part of my chores, and I have to put a new bag in and whenever I unwrap the bag my cat Jynx freaks, so what I do is I make sure she is not in the room.

i guess he's frightened by the crunching sound plastic bags make....

my cat also hates certain things usually the one that made a threathening sound to them

it is just a normal reaction of animal trying to protect themselves whenever danger emerging...maybe he had bad experience with plastic bags...

just keep the plastic bags away...it is also dangerous if they get trapped in it and don't know how to get out, they might also suffocate themselves

Mine does exactly the same I even accused my ex of trying to harm the cat but he hadn't, it must just be a common phobia for cats

It's the noise they make when they crinkle, it shocks them. Spaghetti and her brother Jet are the opposite, they like to sit in plastic bags and 'kill' them.
