I am going to two weddings over the next two weekends. The first is a massive affair and they have a wedding list so i have got them a prezzie.

The other however is a very modest affair and as they already have a home together they do not NEED anything. The bride (who is a very close friend) keeps insisting she doesn't want me to get her anyrthing, but i would really like to get her something!!!!

She is an ex-naval wren, and has a wicked sense of humour! I dont wanna get her gift vouchers? or anything for the house or baby! Any thoughts??

I had a similar one myself a few years ago. In the end I got a picnic hamper and put a bottle of champagne & 2 champagne glasses in it, I decorated it with confeti and ribbon.

It turned out to be their favourite wedding present and gave them an excuse to go out for a picnic and they still picnic every year on their anniversary.

Are they going on honeymoon? Could you get them some currency of the country they are going to? How about a tree (if they have a garden)? How about something the couple can enjoy together - but this would depend on how much you want to spend - how about his 'n' hers massages at a spa? How about paying for a meal out for them and offering to babysit?

The best thing to give is money. I know some think it's cheesy but i'll tell you what, it's probably what they need most after paying for such a huge event. Put 20.00 to 50.00 in a card.

I usually take pictures throughout the wedding. Photos that the professionals don't take. Pictures that are spontanious and of friends and family that get missed by the photographer. After the wedding I make a book out of the pictures on shutterfly.com.

Brides love it!

Money is always good. They can use it for their honeymoon or savings. They can, also put all the cash they get as gifts to buy something big for the house or themselves that they would normally not buy or couldn't afford.

You could give her a spa day. This will give her a day by herself. I see she has a baby so she might need it. Then you can plan to go together and spend so time together. Or you can give her a photo album so she could put the wedding pictures in.

If you attend the wedding, you are supposed to give a gift. Everyone needs sheets or towels.

Cash is an awesome present, no matter what. OR, take the new couple out to a nice dinner, since you're close!
