i own a 1994 saab 900s,the major problam that no one seems to solve in the cooling system,it had costed me a fortune but no use,i have almost entirely changed the entire cooling system,i have changed the fan,the pump, the hoses, cleaned the radiator but no use, changed the cap 3 times
the cars runs ok during traffic but the moment i turn off the engine the water starts pouring out from the expansion tank through the cap, what is the problem,is it the tank, the cap or the car is pressurized or god knows what ,please if any one knows i appreciate his or her help.

Sounds like you have a blown headgasket .. pull out the sparkplugs and look to see if one looks steamcleaned - IE very clean - look at the motor oil - see if there is - creamy or chocloatly mousse on the dip stick - that means oils / water are mixing which means head gasket is blown - the presurization of the expansion tank is usually caused by an air bubble from the cyclinder with the blown headgasket - cylinder compression leaking by the gasket -

did you change your thermostat????
make sure you have the correct mixture of water and coolant
if your car is not overheating.... and you change almost everything the only thing i can guess is your radiator cap is not the correct one it has to be like 12 to 15psi if it is lower than that cant hold the pressure and then your reservoir tank is taking water coming from the engine

make sure too do not over fill the reservoir tank

if you have a bad gasket the pressure of the pistons will fill your tank while running and then you will have an overheating due that

at the moment you turn off the car and then it start overfill the reservoir tank then go for a higher rad cap but .... if while running the reservoir tank get full then you have a gasket go for a pressure test

Probably the head gasket. Early 90s Saabs are famous for this, with a very high failure rate.

I'm surprised the mechanic didn't immediately test for a bad head gasket when a) they saw pressure in the expansion tank and b) when they saw they were looking at a '94 Saab.

Take it someplace where they know Saabs and ask them to perform a cylinder leakdown test or a cooling system pressure test, or have them test for combustion gases in the coolant.

It sounds like a head or intake gasket is leaking and your getting compression from your engine into the cooling system. Have a pressure test done on your vehicle. I hope this works for you, it sounds like you spent enough money.

Saabs are good looking but highly problematic. You need a mechanic that specializes in Saabs.Try calling parts dept at the Saab dealer and see what they say. Those guys are smarter than you think.

Almost certainly the head gasket. As stated previously, check your oil for some mayonnaise-looking sludge on the dipstick. Also check your expansion tank, if it looks muddy that's oil.
