Arizona has always been one of the most conservative state in the union. This is a states that gives very little help Social services to its residents (legal) , Much less undocumented workers. Arizona is one of the fastest growing states in the US. A clamp down on employers is some thing that will have an effect or lowering the amount of undocumented workers, and the punishment should ,be a fine and prison sentence,
Arizona is also a "Right to Work" state.

i think she was exactly right. The federal government has been completely negligent, and the only people that are going to do something about it, are at the state level.
Its like richardson from new mexico.. he declared the border a disaster area, so he could get federal funds to do something about the security of this country.
this is what its going to take. its going to take the federal government paying state government hundreds of billions to do the job they wont do before they decide to take action.
and:
"The only problem with the high fines on hiring illegal immigrants is that many of the smaller companies will end up going out of business because the fines are going to eat them up and will have to close"
this is exactly the point! if they didnt break the law in the first place, they wouldnt be having problems. if your state has a three strike law on criminals, if you never commit the first strike, you dont have to worry about the three strikes..

Yes, I certainly would like to hear more of this in every state, several times daily until all the illegals have been deported and all their employers penalized.
The states are attempting what the federal government is failing to do. The states need our support.

The only problem with the high fines on hiring illegal immigrants is that many of the smaller companies will end up going out of business because the fines are going to eat them up and will have to close. Now no one has a job.
If a larger manufacturing company or construction company has a little less than half its employees illegal immigrants and they are caught and fined they will have to shut down because their shareholders will not accept a huge loss and will pull their stocks out and sell which leaves ALL employees without work legal and illegal alike. It is a dominoe effect and it will kill alot of businesses that do hire legal people to work as well which will result in higher unemployment rate, more on state assistance and welfare and possibly many more homeless. What will you do then? You think your job is protected? Not so, no matter what job you do somewhere down the line it is connected to other companies which if they are effected by the fines and layoffs then you will be too. Chain reaction. I understand more illegals cross in Arizona than any other state. That section of the border is not monitored as well as others. Maybe that is where they need to concetrate their efforts first. Don't hit the companies just yet because you will have thousands of legal people without a job.
Also, I hear people everyday that they do not make enough money and want minimum wage increased to adjust to the cost of living has gone up. Well ok, you are pd $6.50 per hr now we raise in to $7.45. We got rid of all the low wage illegals that helped keep the cost of living from rising too fast. Now that you are paid more then the product you produce for your company goes up. Now the loaf of bread you bought yesterday was $2.19 today is $3.00. The gallon of milk that was $3.79 is now $4.50. The gas you bought at $3.00 per gallon is now $4.25. The chicken you bought for $3.85 is now $5.00. Pay rates effect everything. Your pay goes up / cost of living goes even higher. The more low pay jobs we have the better the cost of living stays lower or at the least does not raise as fast. If more families would live together in one large home instead of a smaller home for one family, people could afford this change and could save more. Hope Arizona doesn't have to cover it's but when their idea comes to bite them in it.

I think the rest of the country needs to follow this lead. If the federal government refuses to deal with the immigration problem than the states should deal with it as Arizona is.

The bad part is that they will still come here for jobs and get them. There's a "loophole"- illegals can work as independent subcontractors and have a different working relationship with the employers than if they were technically an employee. This will just keep them circumventing the law. Some kinks need to be worked out.

Profit margin is the bottom line in our society. We are an incredibly opportunistic country. Any successful business is constantly looking for methods to save expense. We are going thru a change in our society we may not see clearly for a hundred years, (similar to the European Industrial revolution). We also tend, as a society, to think we can fix social problems with laws. Band-aide approach. No matter what size band-aide is mandated by law onto employers, illegal immigrants are going to try to find a better life for their future. I don't think cracking down on employers is going to solve a mass migration of people from a land of want to a land of opportunity. It is a complex issue with many serious aspects to consider. Should we discuss it more? Yes. Are there easy solutions, no. Maybe the USofA needs to change their Statue of Liberty inscription first, go from there.

IT'S ABOUT TIME! This should happen all over the US. (I'm not holding my breath for California though!)
This is exactly what businesses were afraid of so they pushed Congress to pass the horrible amnesty bill. Americans are fighting back and businesses are scared!
