No its not normal at all, this must be some kind of joke and if it is it isnt amusing at all. Your 5 year old boy or girl needs her own privacy. I cannot imagine having to ask that on here I mean isnt that common sense?

Yea it is very normal. The 5 year old will have all kinds of questions and want to touch it and stuff. So warn the 17 year old to expect questions, to feel free to help the 5 year old wash, and that this is an important time to teach the 5 year old about modesty, privacy, how to aim the penis, how to take care of male things etc. Also, explain to the 17 year old that when he shows the young brother how to wash if he washes him it is okay to mover quickly over the penis but do not linger. He probably knows this already if he helped change the 5 year olds diapers when he was 12 and 13. It really could be a good moment for the boys and will come to an end when he turns 7 or 8. He will get modest all of a sudden. Yes this can be a very normal thing.

ok...I have a big brother too....I am female....He's 14 years older then me...he didn't care if i wanted to shower with him and so i did on occasion...mom appreciated the extra help and freedom. If you trust your son and know them well you should not have ANY problem with it....the child is only 5 mind you...Its not like its gonna continue forever, either the older brother is gonna say enough or hell be moving out soon...either way the issue will be resolving its self.\
I think a big reason people on here think its wrong is because they have kids very close in age...so they don't run into this situation...so to them it almost seems like saying its ok for you to let some random 17 year old shower with your 5 year old kis...thats NOT what your asking...your asking about a FAMILY memeber...at least that is how it sounds...THAT is TOTALLY different then some 17 year old.
My brother is my biggest hero in the world...i consider him more of a dad then my own dad. He NEVER hurt me or touched me inapproiately. He just loved his little sitter and didn't care if i wanted to to join in with him. In 23 years my brother has NEVER even slapped me upside the head....so just because hes 17 doesn't mean that he has issues...maybe he loves that child and that child loves him and perhaps its the male figure thing as it was with me...i never wanted my brother out of my sight. So stop thinking so damn negitive...sometimes things are EXACTLY as they appear. Yes there is bad in this world but you know your kids and your family...you seems to be a good mom and you have instints for a reason...if no red flags go for it. Ive found out insticts are normally right.

It's probably normal for the 5 year old to want to take showers with the 17 year old but it's not a good idea for the two to shower together. I have to wonder why the 17 year old doesn't mind. Usually teenagers want to be left alone, especially with personal matters. If it were me, I wouldn't let it happen any more.

It's not normal, but I (unlike those other folks) don't see anything wrong with it.
Taking showers with a family member and seeing family members naked (in a non sexual way) only helps build the youngsters confidence in his own body. This confidence will carry on until he's older and will help him through those self-hating teenage years.
I'd say as long the five year old takes most of his showers on his own, then there's nothing wrong with this practice.

Absolutely not! The 17 year old in practically an adult, why would he want to shower with a child? this 17 y/o has shown your 5 y/o porn and you allow them to shower together, who supervises? Sounds like the younger child needs to be placed in some type of foster care immediately, before he is too damaged. The "it's easier" excuse is horrible as well, you can't be too lazy to care for your own children. I would not be surprised to see you on Jerry Springer, cause this story and your other questions sound like trash.

If you are asking that question you must have at least a basic idea that it isn't ok. At 5, a kid should be able to get in the shower with instructions not to touch the water faucet or open the door by himself. An older person should definately be close at hand, but in the shower, No!

are they both boys? My 6 yr old daughter occassionally takes a shower with my 15 yr old daughter. I don't think i would let my kids with that much age difference take a shower together if they were not of the same sex

I'm assuming two boys.
If boy and girl... you need to wonder about both. It's great you 17yo so is nice, but unusual as he should be having a fit about it
Anyway, you should end it. Whethte boy boy or boy girl, there might be some feelign floating around inthere that aren't necessary, unless that doesn't bother you. If it doesn't then no big deal. it's your family, and they will probably grow out of it soon enough.
At worst your older son goes to College in a year (more or less), and that should end it.

You dont say if the 5 year old is a boy or Girl ??
If its a girl, its not wise to let her shower with a 17year old male, kids are naturally nosey, and talk outside the home,
this situation could be misunderstood, causing problems for the 17yr old male and probably yourself.
