It is an eventually fatal disease. In years passed, it was a fatal disease early in life. But no more. With advances in medicine children have lived well into adulthood. They have lived to parent children, have a career, and experience driving and other things.
Are you a young person that has been diagnosed with CF? I know it is scary. But you do have a life ahead of you. You won't be a marathon runner. But you will drive a car, visit the ocean, and even meet a girlfriend you might choose to marry. You do have a life in front of you. And you are not going to die before you are 12 as someone else suggested. Fifty years ago, that would happen. But not now. You do have a future. It will be different than your friends' lives, but you will have a life with good things to come.

Yes. A friend of mine died at age 20 waiting for a lung transplant. She died of a reoccurring lung infection that progressively got worse.

Sadly yes, the mucus caused by cycstic fibrosis can block lungs, it can also make it hard for people affected to digest their food.
