sometimes when something happens to me, i guess i create a false memory.. even something like me tripping and falling on the ground, i might think that my cat had jumped in the way and i was trying to look up and i jit the wall with my foot or something totally ridiculous.. or maybe if i get fouled in soccer (football) i make up what really happened and i tell people what i think happened but really i made it up? i dont get it
why am i making up totally poinltless false memories?
is this just me? or are other people doing this?

this doesnt happen very often.. but when it does happen i cant go back and start telling ppl what really happened bc what i 'make up' becomes reality to me

Your confidence level needs a jolt so you create a scenario that makes it all seem a little better. You have a high expectation for yourself so when something like a foul or a fumble occurs you make it more justifiable by combining elements of external influence. If you drop something you might say there was a loud noise that startled you or someone bumped into you causing you to drop it. This alleviates the fault and failure aspect. If there is no real consequence to this behavior then just work on addressing the reality and getting control over it. If it becomes a problem and you are getting negative results then the ramifications of this behavior can damage your reputation and self image in which case you will have to see a mental health professional to help you resolve the issue.

I have the same problem. When I was around six years old I came in the house crying and yelling that my vagina was bleeding. I thought it was my period. I later found out that that couldnt be because your period is supposed to come every month and I didn't get my "next" one until four years later. Anyway, at first, after the incident, I had no memory of what happened before I came in the house that day, but after I found out about periods I guess my mind needed an explaination for what happened, and it ended up creating a memory of me getting raped that night at the park. The weird thing is that the memory is so vivid, I can see the man clearly, and I can even feel the pain. But I know this can't be true(even though it would explain alot of things in my life), because a memory can't just pop up our of nowhere.
Alot of situations like that have happened to me, and sometimes when I lie I can't separate the lie from what really happened and the lie becomes real to me. I know I have a problem and I sometimes think I need mental help, but my parents don't take me seriously when I ask them about it.
So, even though i can't help you, I know what you're going through.

My husband does this too!
I don't know why he does, but it cheeses me off and I wish he'd stop, but he's been doing it all his life and he's in denial over it.
I think that it stems from being unhappy about how a situation, conversation, etc went, and lacking self confidence too, so he fills in with how it should have been , maybe to make it more exciting, fulfilling, believable, or sensible and to take away any failure on his part. And then he REALLY believes THAT is how it went.
As you recognize it, I would take serious steps to stop it as the longer you do it the less you'll be able to differentiate and the more it will be "normal" for you.

do you remeber things happening that way ( e.i the way your false memory creates it) or is that just how you tell the story??

if its the first case, you might have som kind of problem and i would recomend you see a doc.

if its the second case... i believe that is also a disorder ---> compulsive liar???
and that would also require medical attention.

hey i know my answer doesnt help much.. in fact i most probably told you nothing that you dind already figure... but i guessed that if enough people told you that you should go see a doc.. you would actually listen and find a REAL solution to your problem????

that and i need the 2points thanks(",)
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

That's typical of all people. It's the very reason why several people are questioned at the scene of an accident or crime. It's not that people LIE. They just can't recall CLEARLY. The brain is programmed to fabricate certain things as a sort of defense mechanism.
