Dear Leizar,

i think first it's important to clarify who God is. Many people can believe in God but may have a different conception of God- for example people in Thailand worship Monkey Gods- but i don't think that worshipping a monkey will make you kinder to anyone except maybe monkeys.

My personal belief is in the God of the Bible, and i think it truly helps me to be a more loving person- because the love that my life displays is not a natural love: a natural love- loves those that love them back and hates those who hate them back. Christ's love demonstrates loving others - no matter where they've been, or what they've done. i think my relationship with God has helped me to love people that were difficult to love. i know that when i first met Jesus and the reality that my Heavenly father loves me- helped me to love my earthly father (he is schizophrenic) and he made life hellacious for my family growing up -- and i grew up bitter in many ways- but God's love helped me to love him and i've been trying to introduce him to God's love.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

Oh in response to your other question -- i think if you grow in being sacrifical and selfless- people will respond to that lovingly as well (usually)...

Also a big part of being a believer is to interact in a community with other belivers and you learn how to love people with their imperfections in that context...

it works for me.

it's not so much my belief in God that does it for me though. you can believe that there is a God, and that He hates you, for whatever reason. that kind of belief doesn't make you love anyone. it's destructive.

i've heard preachers talk about the symbol of the cross as a metaphor. our ''vertical'' relationship with God leads to better ''horizontal'' relationships with the people around us. it might sound kinda silly to explain it that way, but in my life, and the lives of many others, that's how it works.

look at it this way- if you grow up in an abusive household where everyone is constantly screaming at each other, hurling insults, and fighting with each other, you're naturally inclined to act the same way with the people outside of your house as you do with your own family members. i'm a much nicer, more loving, and happier person now that i realize that i cannot possibly contemplate exactly how much God loves me. it's only when i talk about my religious beliefs that people push me away, and that's only because it's such a sensitive subject. so i don't go around preaching. i wait until someone asks, which is rare, unless i'm online in R&S.

No, the belief in God does not make you a More loving person than anyone else we All are capable of love wether we know God or Not.
God is the very essense of love, Love is a Free gift to All as is everything else in life.

I don't think belief in God makes you a more loving person. If you check in prison you will find that lot of hardcore criminals belief in God. Love, kindness depends on the person.

Just open your eyes and look at the world.

Belief in God is the major source of entrenched hatred on the planet.

And this works at a personal level too - I have met many, many truly hateful Christians who do not know how to love anything they do not like a lot already.

I hate answering questions with a "yes and no"; but feel it is the proper answer in this case.

A true child of God will have a continual, ongoing desire to do good, to love others and want the best for them.

However, demons also believe and tremble, so belief is meaningless without God's grace (unmerited favor):

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. - James 2:19.

yes , believing in god means following a religion and religion gives you the first step to start applying teachings into your social life . god will love you more as much as you love and help others .

Can a belief in god make others love you ? again yes , according to your high morals and the peace in mind you got, people will love you . god will make them so, because he loves you too :)

peace :)

It can but it is really not about other people it is about you and God. The definition of love in your question must also be questioned. We have only the one word but the Hebrews had many.

It makes me love others but not everyone loves me
But if I show them my love, then they'll see that somebody really loves them and feel happy so they'll love me in return
It doesn't bring me always closer to poeple
