That was a tradition when I got married. Is it still done?

Sydney:
I also requested no showers. My request was respected by everyone but my coworkers.

But I love traditons like the one I mentioned.

I will use it.
Tradition is somewhat of a comfort in a time of stress or nervousness. It helps tame your desire to let your mind go off on tangents. There is a comfort there in tradition that nothing else can create.

A lot of brides do this still, it's one of the few traditions I am using when I get married this year, I'm just stuck for a borrowed thing though.

Yes I believe that is still being done today. I know when my cousin got married a couple years ago she carried on the tradition.

I did, My grandmother gave me a gorgeous antique diamond heart necklace to wear, which covered old , I had many new things on, I borrowed a corset and the hoop under my dress from my best friend/matron of honor, and had the pedicurist paint my toenails blue (which was a fun color for our beach honeymoon too.) Best wishes!

I got married 2 years ago (I was 27) and did not do that. I also didn't have a bridal shower - I can't stand those things! It was so nice being able to make those decisions.

So far I haven't encountered one bride who hasn't done this or has plans not to. And that's with 6 weddings in the next 7 months!!!

I am going to! I'm 27 and getting married in a couple months.
Something old - still working on this!
Something new - virtually everything (dress, veil, etc)
Something borrowed - my mother's hanky she used for her wedding
Something blue - my garter has a blue rose on it
