One type of classification is
1.Vegetarian food Example leafy vegetables, green vegetables, fruits, milk, yoghurt etc
2. Non-vegetarian food Example meat, eggs etc
Another type of classification is
1.Natural foods (availalabe in nature and can be consumed as such) Example fruits, vegetables, honey etc
2. Processed foods. Example cereals, grains, fats & oils etc
I hope the above may be sufficient for grade 1 level.

Food is basically broken down into protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Protein is the building block of cells and life, most importantly it's known for helping you build muscle. Carbohydrates you can think of as quick energy that the body can use. Fats have been given the bad rap but they offer the most energy per gram and are essential to growth and development.
