If your country was invaded what would you do? Would you pick up a gun? If you could not join the military for some reason would you fight them anyways? Would you sit back and hope for the best? Would you join the other side?

I've watched the movie Red Dawn and Die Hard 4.0. What terrifies me is if somehow any neighboring countries invade us when our military defense (including our nuclear weapon!), infrastructure, telecommunication, transportation, public service, and energy supply are all down. Insurgencies. Sabotaged!

Could you imagine all our neighbors stab us from behind when we are all down an so weary? I mean full-scale invasion here! Canada, Mexico, and Cuba from American mainland. Great Britain, France, Spain, Holland on the East Coast. Russia, Japan, and China on the Weast Coast. Well, you got the idea....

In that very desperate circumstances, would you as civilian take arms for Land of the Free and Home of the Brave...?

I don't think we have to worry so much about all of them attacking us.
But China and Russia could very possibly invade and do what you have described.
We currently own a semi automatic assault rifle (AR-15) and a 12 gauge Mossberg shotgun and I would be very willing to take up arms and defend myself in the event of an invasion.

In fact we are stocking up on ammo for both guns and intend to purchase more firearms for future use in the invent such an invasion takes place.

I also think we have many, many people already here who would turn on Americans and kill as many as possible.
So we have that to consider as well.
I know people right now who are selling all of their belongings and moving to the mountains because they are convinced we are going to be attacked from within and from without the United States.
And they don't think the Government will protect them when this happens.

I'm not going to run,I'm going to stay right where I am and if or when that happens my husband and I are going to be prepared and go down in a blaze of glory.
(And a hell of a lot of bullets too)

Yes.

As a historical fact, back in the 30s and 40s, there was an agency in the US government that fomented the training of civilians in military marksmanship, so that in the event of a war, these marksmen would be called up to served the country...

It was called the Civilian Marksmanship Program.

"The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a U.S. government-chartered program that promotes firearms safety training and rifle practice for all qualified U.S. citizens with special emphasis on youth. Any U.S. citizen who is not legally prohibited from owning a firearm may purchase a military surplus rifle from the CMP, provided they are a member of a CMP affiliated club. The CMP operates through a network of affiliated shooting clubs and state associations that covers every state in the U.S. The clubs and associations offer firearms safety training and marksmanship courses as well as the opportunity for continued practice and competition.

The CMP was created by the U.S. Congress as part of the 1903 War Department Appropriations Act. The original purpose was to provide civilians an opportunity to learn and practice marksmanship skills so they would be skilled marksmen if later called on to serve in the U.S. military. Over the years the emphasis of the program shifted to focus on youth development through marksmanship. From 1916 until 1996 the CMP was administered by the U.S. Army. Title XVI of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996 (Public Law 104-106, 10 February 1996) created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice & Firearms Safety (CPRPFS) to take over administration and promotion of the CMP. The CPRPFS is a tax-exempt non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been Federally chartered by the U.S. Congress, but is not an agency of the U.S. Government (Title 36, United States Code, Section 40701 et seq). Apart from a donation of surplus .22 and .30 caliber rifles in the Army's inventory to the CMP, the CMP receives no Federal funding."

That would be tough.... The military would have its work cut out for them being the citizens would know their towns, landscapes, terrain, etc. kind of like Iraq and Afghanistan. The locals would have the advantage, they could hide among the regular people and the military wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a normal citizen or a "rebel". The military would do some serious damage with their technology and weapons and strength in numbers. It would be very very bad for both sides, which is why an armed populace is still one to be feared.

HA!

LOL!

They can take my gun from my cold dead hand.

But that would happen long before anyone invades this country in a large scale military effort. The enemy is within. Don't let them take your gun, or that will be the end.

They are in the process now. They are trying to make ammo a controlled substance under OSHA by classifying it as explosives. That will make it hard to buy and regulate how much you can have. The ATF is closing down gun shops for stupid clerical errors. What do you think is going on? They want to get rid of the guns in this country, so they can do whatever the hell they want.

That is precisely why we have the Seond Amendment in the first place, and is why I own firearms. I am joining the military as it is anyway, but if we had a war on American soil before or after then, I would not think twice about using my arms against my invaders.

It depends. In your situation has the US turned into a completely fascist state without freedoms? Are the other countries better off then ares? Or Would it be like the USSR or the Nazis invading.

In the 3rd situation I'd say I'd fight for my right to live

Good Question. If the Yellowstone Supervolcano went off, it would be the end of USA as a superpower. Anyone would be able to have their way with us. Probably under the guise of UN Peacekeepers. Bible Prophesy clearly says it will happen.

Anybody ever read you a story about Chicken Little and why the sky was falling? If not, it is not too late to learn something
about real life, if you aren't still watching Red Dawn and Die Hard 4.0 again.

Damn right I would. I'd be the one with the sniper rifle shooting from the attic of my own house, playing a game of "how many invaders can I take down in 60 seconds." If I'm still alive at the end of that clock, I'll play again and again. You get the picture.

If I go down, I'm taking some of them with me.

I think any red-blooded American would kill, injure, or maim anybody stupid enough to step foot on American soil for an invasion. Except the Mexicans, because if we killed them, we'd have know way the rebuild our war scarred country.
