During the depression musicians could not get much work, so the called getting a gig, a slice of what de got but to get a gig in New York was more than a slice that was the whole apple, hence The Big Apple.

actually i heard it was called the big apple because of the depression era. Many people began vending produce, especially apples.

becuz it is yer business capital thats y and before it wasent even there it was a river ppl used apple wood to make its under water foundations and later they put crushed stones and then it and later may types of road layn and later concrete and later buildings built to make it yer business capital
