The coins that stick to magnets are ones that contain iron, steel or some stainless steel. The 1943 US zinc coated steel penny is magnetic. I believe that it is the only US coin that is magnetic. All small denominaton Euro cent coins are copper coated steel. They are all magnetic. If the US was smart they would change the composition of the penny to copper coated steel instead of copper coated zinc, because steel is so much cheaper, Of course, it would make more sense to get rid of them altogether.
