I would like to travel to Mountain Home AR from NY by train. Is it possible to do this?

If it is possible roughtly how long would it take and how much would it cost.

Yes, it's possible but you can't take the train all the way to Mountain Home. If you go on http://www.amtrak.com and plug in NYC as your starting point, you can get trains to Little Rock, AR via Chicago. From Little Rock you'll have to figure out how to go the rest of the way.
