Basically, I've got the jew-fro thing goin on since I washed my hair today. It looked great before, I hadn't washed it in 4 months. It was kind of stringy, but it looked good in the opinions of most girls I know. I decided to wash it because I figured maybe this time I'd be able to get it straight with the new V05 straightening cream I got. I tried it, with the straightening iron and even wore a beanie for an hour after but nothing worked. I once got it chemically straightened, but that only lasted 3 days and still only reduced it to waves. I'd like to know if there's any conditioner that WILL weigh my hair down (all conditioners seem to advertise that they won't, but that's what I want), as well as homemade recipes to get my hair back to its unwashed state quicker, I've heard of olive oil and honey mixtures and other weird things...

The only time I've gotten it completely straight was when I ended up draining a full can of TIGI Hard Head spray.

My hair is about 10" long, light brown

Oh and by not washing it, what I mean is not using shampoo. I still used conditioner sometimes and a lot of water. It didn't smeel bad, but it looked a little bit more oily than normal.

Ha. I always say I look like Syd Barret on bad hair days. On really bad ones, Captain Sensible of the D a m n e d.

I believe in dirty hair too--but I use product to get that. Less gross. Matrix makes something called messy matte clay. The tub is red and the lid blue. It's very sticky and doesn't smell very good. But oh it gives meaning to my life and control to my hair.

Next time you get a cut, try having it thinned. Helps a lot.

You need to get a good pait of ghd hair straighners and use a good hair serum, it works for me and my hair sounds the same as yours. I cant belive you have not washed it for 4 months, no wonder it is in the condition it is.

Again i have had my hair chemically straightned and you cshould have gone back to the shop as the chemically straightning should last untill your hair grows ie the roots. Its like hair colour when your roots come throug the same thing.
So you should have got at leaast 12 weeks out of it, you should have gone back. they have not sone it right.

Also i use John Freida hair serum and also John Freida hair repair fantastic products

If you blow-dry it straight, it will stay straight much longer than with a hot flatiron. Because of the hydrogen bond when the hair dries.

Use some frizz-ease, put it on your damp hair, and blow dry it with a round brush.

Why hadn't you washed it in four months?

get a chi hair straightener, they are expensive but are really worth it. they straighten great. if you cant afford one go over to sallys beauty supply and they have some cheaper ones that still work pretty good. chis dont fry your hair as bad though :D
