So much of the time, it is quite easy for us as humans to laugh or make fun of someone who's beliefs are different from our own. I ask you to please examine your views and search, with an open mind, for the one true God. You don't have to believe, but surely your eternal destiny (or what lies beyond death) is something that should be of utmost importance to you. You don't want to be wrong when your time comes, so I encourage you to open your eyes to the possibility that you may not hold the truth.

I do not and never will believe in any "one god," simply because of my own spiritual beliefs, and I find the notion of such a "one" being rather absurd.

Really, I could care less about if I was right or wrong when die, but mostly that thought comes from everyone thinking that what they believe about religion is true. That there is an afterlife of heaven or hell, when not once in the entire history of civilisation has it really been proven as fact.

Let me ask you a few things, just because I am curious, and not meant as insulting whatsoever -

What is it that makes you sure that all that you have read and have been told is true?
- Why can't those who are atheist be right, that there is in fact, no god, no afterlife, no nothing after we die?
-Why must there always be a point to life and all that we see and do?

It is the same as what science does - trying to look for explanations for how things work when there isn't any need. Yes, good things can come of it, but in the end, what does it matter when all things must eventually end?

Yea, and you'll do the same I bet.

What if I asked you to do the same, what would your reply be?

Sir, I've a huge fear of death. I've wished many times that there were some sort of god to watch over me. I have considered it a great deal, but no matter how much I wish it were true, it doesn't add up. There is no good reason to believe that there is some sort of God. Comfort would be, but I can not fool myself, in that regard. So I do ask you to consider that you don't have the truth, although you don't lose anything by not considering what I've said. Life is really too short. You will probably be happier as you are, and happiness should be most important of all, if I could only attain it. Good luck with those reconsider or burn arguments.

Yes, I agree. It is all too easy to make fun of some beliefs.

I am going to re-examine my views, with an open mind.

My eyes are open now. And I do accept the fact that I do not know all the ultimate truth. Neither does anyone else.

The only people who claim to know the truth about everything are believers. The "truth" they believe came from thousands of years ago when people knew LESS than they know now.

It makes more sense to accept a reasonable philosophy that comes from a time where we know more. Also, science proves everything it claims is true, and does not claim to know anything more; As opposed to religions, which don't prove anything, and claim to know everything.

I've figured it out! I believe God made me with a brain, so in His glory, I must use it! God made me an atheist. Who am I to question Gawd's plan? I must be an atheist because he wants me to be!

Yeah! ...That's the ticket!

I don't think anyone should feel bad for questioning. The reason that religious beliefs are questioned to begin with, is because of so many inconsistancies, contradictions, etc. that you find in them. Take for instance...the Bible...any version of it. Oh man, I'm gonna get so much crap for this...there are so many contradictions and inconsistancies in them and amongst them...and what is the Bible, really, but the "word of God" written by MAN. Not always the most reliable source. Things get misinterpreted or simply changed because it conflicted with what someone else wanted it to say.
I don't have anything against any other religions either, but we are talking about the same problems as with the Bible...inconsistencies and contradictions galore. However, people are free to believe what they want.
It bothers me that other religions have an obvious problem with Agnostics. It is not a "cop out" like most seem to believe. We believe that there is most definately a higher power, we just don't see it as a single entity or multiple entities, male or female..that is just something that religion likes to dictate, for one reason or another.
Basically, we most definately believe in a divine higher power...just not necessarily the ones in the fallable writings of man.

So you don't think that athiests have already concidered there might be a god? I've concidered the possibility many times and have found the assertion baseless beyond old religious text that can't be supported by anything other than themselves. If they could we would have to believe in all the god's man has belived and written about. I assume you don't believe in Zeus. If so, why not. Have you carefully weighed the pros and cons of Zeus worship. Of course not, so stop wasting our time with really really really stupid questions.

The thing that many here on Y!A don't take into consideration when "Preaching" to folks, is the doctrine of "Election".

God chooses us, we do not choose Him.

Saved by grace through faith. Our job is to simply plant the seed, it is the job of the Holy Spirit to water it unto salvation. Some seeds will land along the side of the road, some in the rocks, and some in fertile ground.

"Beating Atheists Over The Head" with God gets only a troll response from them. They have heard the Word, why not try a different approach? Walk the walk maybe?

Will You Please Consider This? Think For A Minute That Your One True God Doesn't Exist. Think Of Religion As Mans Way Of Explaining What He Can't Explain Himself. When You Can Do That I Will Take What You Said Into Consideration.

Sage
In which denomation of Heaven are you going to hang around for eternity.
Are you going to Jewish Heaven or the Roman Catholic Heaven,or the Mormon or some other minor of Heaven.
Speaking of getting it wrong, how are YOU going to feel when you finally die and "Jimmy Jesus" does not show up to greet you.
What then my friend.
There is no scientific evidence of Jesus of Nazareth and only very blood smattered brief history of Christianity to go by.
After reading the Historical facts l am not very impressed with what l learnt.
You perhaps need to go to a library and find out for yourself and not take all the gooblygook in the Bible which has been rewritten so many times no ones of God actualy remain.
The Bible and all religions are made on man made doctrine ,these are not the words of God.

You mean we should have an open mind like the people who heckled the Hindu priest at thursday's morning prayer in the US Senate?

I'm an agnostic, I don't believe in God every day. But I have more respect for HIM than you Christians seem to. I would never drag HIS good name in the mud by acting so disrespectfully to a Holy man of any Religion.

I'll loan you a block and tackle so that you can take the beam out of your own eye. I doubt that you have all of the Truth either.
