<>How about a piece of scenery..desert, forest, or mountains? You've got a pretty big "canvas" there!

i love the 1st link from the answer above me...

i've wanted a big back tat for a while...as much as i love something like that 1st link, i love big tats that is a collection of things that represent you & your life thus far. as you get older & experience more, you can add into it. but the trick is to make it all look unified.

for instance, i would get things like: an autism puzzle piece, marilyn monroe, ballet shoes, a paw print, an african violet, music notes, a microphone w/stars all through...these are all things that represent important parts of my life...sounds crazy, but w/the right artist, it could be amazing.

Just don't get it in a lot of colors. Two or three is good. The fewer the better, because more colors on a big tattoo raises risk of infection. Get an artist, or go to the place, to help you put the thing together.

Hi Meow, Go to a tattoo shop and talk to the artist and tell him what you are looking for and he will draw it for you. If you don't like it he can make changes to it until you are happy with it. I did this with one of my tats and it was great i have it put on my lower back awesome!!!

Start with something that is important to you. Then find what symbolizes that. This can be your central element. Things you also love can surround your central element. Various styles of "lacing" can loop around the elements, connecting them to each other.

Across the back (shoulder area) or side of stomach (not sure how to descrbe it). Also, what about around the ankle? Like going in a circle.
