Field striping or a complete take down?
Wilson Combat sells a very good VHS/DVD that will work you through the complete take down of a 1911 a1
Field striping is easy and will be in the instruction manual that came with the pistol, if you don't have one contact the manufacture and they will ship one out to you, all most always free of charge.

You had better google your specific make and model and get an instruction book so you don't screw something up. There are many models of pistols and quite a few of them have little quirks not shared by others. A colt is different from a EAA is different from a beretta and yadda.

This question is hard to answer without Knowing the make and model of the weapon. Do you own it? If so take it to where you purchased it , have them show you. Contact the maker they will send you a manual free of charge.

You need to be more specific.
Do you need instructions to field strip a M-1911 type pistol, or is it a Glock, Taurus, Ruger, S&W, Kimber.
