No. But you can get St. John's Wort over the counter. That's supposed to be real good at helping with depression.

St. John's Wort can be bought over the counter, but it does have some unpleasent side effects and interferes with hormonal contraceptives as well as other medication. Also, there have been no clinical studies that have proven that St. John's Wort is even effective in treating anything more than mild depression and one must wonder, if such mild depression would go away on it's own and what about the placebo effect? If your depression is serious enough to make you even consider medication, you should be seeking professional help and going to therapy and possibly using prescription antidepressants.

Any antidepressant will be available through prescription only. There is some evidence that St. John's Wort is effective, and this herb is available over the counter in many jurisdictions. Unfortunately, it's hard to know the strength of many herb formulations. If medication is the way you want to go, see a doctor.

St. John's Wort is a natural herb that can be bought OTC at Wal-mart and other drug stores. I have seen it work in many people, and I've taken it myself.
Also, sunlight and exercise are natural ways to help count-act depression. If it's truly a chemical imbalance or a lack of seratonin, you might need to get prescriptions from your doc. Good luck, sweetie.

Yes.
It's another matter whether they work or not. They don't. You'd be MUCH better off eating good food and exercising regularly. Studies show that does more for depression than many PRESCRIPTION pills. Try finding a good church, someone to talk to, get more sunlight, etc. They are all positives!

A vitamin that helps me instead of antidepressants (I have used them but don't anymore) is full range of B vitamins in a large dose. That and calcium really help my nerves a lot.
