Your right. The problem will always be there. The problem is people like you whining about the war taking to long, and we can't win, blah blah blah!

What if, what if!!
NO I DO NOT!
If that happened the UN would be in Iraq!
We already have millions killed. We killed 1/2 million children 5 and under with our blockades, along with another 1/2 million Iraqis! In this war we do not know how many we have killed because Gen. Franks refused a body count, but the estimates are from 60,000 to 600,000!
If Iran ever tried that, Germany would be there, France would be there, Russia would be their and a host of other nations.
No that is not going to happen! Iran would be stupid to even try such a thing, and the Turks would be across their border in a heartbeat!

Nothing much would happen for a while. The situation is kinda like a cross between the Balkans and Lebanon. As the Iraqi National Government is unable to sustain itself, there would be a bloodbath as sectarian groups would seek to form sides. Hard to tell, but based on the current dynamic (majority of the violence is between Sunnis and Shites) hard-line Shites would take over the government (as they have continual support from Iran) but the Sunni insurgency would still remain (as the Shite government cannot be trusted to treat the Sunni populace with according to the rule of law). Yep, even if the US does pull out, the war will go on for a long time (take a look a Lebanon today more than 20 years after its civil war).
BUT, if we do pull out we risk the sectarian violence spreading to Iraq's neighbors. Yikes!

It's power, not necessarily religion. Iran wants to be the dominant country in the Middle East. And they also want to expand towards the West.
If we pulled troops from Iraq, the terrorists would have a safe haven, not unlike pre-war Afghanistan.

I am against the war, and I do not like it. With that said, I think we need to stay there and find a solution to solve the problem we created, like splitting the country, and not keep going down the road that eventually everything will turn out ok only if we kill all the bad guys. If we attempt to implement a good plan with realistic and reachable goals, and it fails, then it's time to leave. If the Iraqi's tell us they don't want the plan, then give them a set time limit to get their act together, and get out once it expires.

And look at where Vietnam is today. It took a while but hey, they figured it out and are entering the world economy as a capitalist nation.
It took talking with China to get them to leave Vietnam alone. Can we expect Bush to even contemplate talking to Iran. Well, I don't think messages on bombs count.

the only way out is a sunni saddam style dictator. this keeps exxon and saudi arabia in control of the world oil supply. and keeps iran out of iraqi oil. the coup is coming. watch the news - usa reaching out to "non-aqaida sunnis" , leaving anbar province and moving toward iran border, iraqi (shiite) gov't can't conduct business because most shiite reps have quit coming to work, no quorem
