Sometimes people just don't have time for much real life interactions for various reasons. I imagine some are creepy because they don't know what to put out there and others are intentionally creepy.
I just stick to real life now because I wasted too much of my money on those sites and they are not getting a penny more out of me. In fact, I lost the password to one of them and can't delete it...grrrrr.
I would suggest just sticking to real life. There you can things you can tell about a person in real life you can't online. Its safer for everyone.

Why do you think online dating is creepy? I know a lot of people who have actually found their spouses on those dating services. One guy I know has actually been married to the woman he met on an online dating service for 10 years! Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Personally I don't find on-line dating creepy. It may not be for everyone and yes there are creepy people using it but there are also lots of good honest people on there also using it as a way to meet people they might not have otherwise.
I know of three couples who are friends or co workers who met on-line. 2 sets are married and the other ones seem to be in love.
It may not be for everyone but it does work for some. You just have to be careful just as you would if you met someone at a bar or any other place.

and the reason is there are so many online dating services is because people are just creepy that way

Not all of it is. There are so many sights becasue it really does work. There are so many legit and valid sights. Most all of the sights you have to pay and chances are that the people who are willing to pay are really looking to make a connection with someone.
