Met up with a guy (dating potential ambiguous) but I was about 10 minutes late. He was on the phone inside, so I tapped on the glass outside and he waved so he knew I was there. Going to dinner, so I waited outside a few minutes so he could end his call. 3-4 minutes pass and he beckons me to come inside while he continues to chitchat for another 5-10 minutes before hanging up.

i would've left, but i had a belated gift that was for him and he was taking me out to dinner for my bday. it was one of those "so bad, it was funny" situations. dude couldn't tell why i was annoyed, but tried to be funny/charming until the bitter end of the evening.

should i stop being angry/annoyed abt the phone thing?
does this mean he doesn't have a clue or doesn't have interest or just hopeless situation and needs dropping?

yeah very bad cell phone etiquette, I would say he is just an idiot! If I see a girl that I am taking to dinner, romantically and I am on the phone when she comes in... I GET OFF THE PHONE. It is rude to her to remain on the phone when she has just arrived. Heck for that matter he should have turned off his cell or put it on silent. I would say he is a lost cause, but it was just one time right, see if something like that happens again and if it does then, just say to heck with it he does not care.

phone etiquette is a dying art. Because you can now receive a call almost anywhere, people have forgotten that you don't have to take every call. Sure, it's polite answer a call, just to make sure it's not urgent. But if you are with someone in person, keep it brief.

But, in today's connected world, this idea is dead. I've seen people walking along side by side, both of them on their phones talking to someone else. Tell this guy what you were upset about, maybe he'll get the hint and get off the phone in a timely manner. But if he doesn't change his habits, then you'll have to either move on, or get used to it.

Hmmmm....sounds like he's a little selfish to me. Was his call more important than you?

Of course, you just never know...men do think a little differently than women. LOL!

If you are interested in him, explain the situation and ask. Maybe he doesn't even realize what he did.

He was either totally clueless, but thought it would be nice to invite you inside.

Or... he planned to be on his phone so he didnt look too available and desperate. He thought making you wait a bit would mean he was 'playing it cool'.

If he does it again, tell him its a bit rude.
