HMMMM... All this bible stuff is probably one reason we have wars going on all the time. People's beliefs always clashing against one another when it's better to just stay out of that topic. To quote BIG FISH: "It's rude to talk about religon because you never know who you're gonna offend."
Now I'm not taking any offense to this, but some people might have, so those of you who keep saying stuff like "It's the devil" or "Screw the bible", you can buzz off.
We all have our own beliefs. You can call it god. You can call it angels. You can call it cosmic consciousness. You can call it the force, or anything else I can think of. We all have a higher power of sorts, and we all hope that they'll get us to heaven and yada yada. That's all fine.
Now Tarot card reading can be seen as two different things.

First: Tarot reading can be a form of entertainment. It's just not as fun as spinning a bottle. ;)

Second: A way of meditation, or prayer.

When you pray to your respective gods, how do you do it? Some people sit on their knees and clasp hands and think their prayers. Others (kids especially once a year) make a wish and blow out a candle. Prayers are wishes. Wishes are hopes. And prayers are also us asking (higher power) to help us with whatever concerns us.

"Please aid the victims of war" "Please watch over my babies" "Guide me to such and such" "HELP!!!!!" and so on.

Tarot cards work in the same way as the person who kneels down in church. You shuffle the cards and ask yourself ONE question about your life. Like "Should I quit this job and get another one?" Then when you feel like you've shuffled enough, you deal out the cards. Sometimes you do it in a pattern Like the first card tells you the question, the second card is the past influence on the question (Like how you felt about your job), the third card is you at the very moment (for example you feel restless and need motivation), and so on. So in a way, tarot card reading is you asking the questions, and through your divination you get answers.

Anyway, I do believe in Tarot. I pull out my deck once in a while if I'm confused about something and need an answer I can't get from here in Yahoo! Answers.

I just WISH that people would stop fighting over beliefs and try to be more openminded and tollerant. Forgive and forget people. Grow up for a change.

I do and I don't. Let me tell you why I do. Quantum indeterminacy (the chance of something happening) is quite random. There have been tests done recently under highly scientific conditions, that have shown that people can predict the future. Not consciously, but on a very deep level. There are also high energy physics tests that predict that a pair of virtual subatomic particles will communicate their "state" to their partner, even if that partner is light years away, INSTANTLY. This is mind-boggling, so if the Tarot reader is in the Zone . . . well, who knows, anything's possible.

The reason I don't is because most Tarot readers seem to me to be pretty full of themselves, so unless you know the Oracle of Delphi, you might as well just toss some bones in your back yard and try to guess what they're telling you. Or do the I Ching, if you want to get technical about it and get a book on the subject.

The Bible strongly condemns the practice of spiritism, mediums, occult, psychics, etc. (Leviticus 20:27; Deuteronomy 18:10-13). Horoscopes, tarot cards, astrology, fortune tellers, palm readings, séances, etc., fall into this category as well. These practices are based on the concept that there are gods, spirits, or deceased loved ones that can give you advise and guidance. These “gods” or “spirits” are demons (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). The Bible gives us no reason to believe that deceased loved ones can, or would even want to contact us. If they were believers, they are in heaven, enjoying the most wonderful place imaginable – in fellowship with a loving God. If they were not believers, they are in hell, suffering the un-ending torment for rejecting God’s love and rebelling against Him.

This is from "gotquestions.org"... and I cannot express it any better. To read the rest of the "article," see below. Have a blessed day!

In the middle ages the tarot was developed to preserve ancient knowledge in a way that wouldn't alert the inquisition, The symbols on the cards had coded meanings to certain people regardless of language or culture. Using the cards to tell fortunes was just to mask their true nature but even those few who remained illuminated during the dark ages did not count on the "self-fulfilling prophesy" effect. If you tell a lonely peasant girl that she will meet a tall dark stranger who will be her one true love, she will sub-consciously reject all the short pale local boys until some random tall dark stranger finds her attractive. If you tell an old man that he will die soon he won't take good care of himself and so shorten his life.
Fortune telling is not about reading cards or tea leaves or palms or head bumps; it's about reading people. A well trained "Psychic/Spiritual Advisor" Does what's called a "cold reading" a technique used to convince another person that the reader knows much more about a subject than they actually do. Even without prior knowledge of a person, a practiced cold reader can still quickly obtain a great deal of information about the subject by carefully analyzing the person's body language, clothing or fashion, hairstyle, gender, sexual orientation, religion, race or ethnicity, level of education, manner of speech, place of origin, etc. This technique is also called profiling. Cold readers commonly employ high probability guesses about the subject, quickly picking up on signals from their subjects as to whether their guesses are in the right direction or not, and then emphasizing and reinforcing any chance connections the subjects acknowledge while quickly moving on from missed guesses.

Any type of fortune telling implies that the future is fixed, and that what's going to happen is going to happen. But the very act of "knowing" the future gives you the power to change it, thereby nullifying any fortune that someone may have told you. That's why most "fortunes" are very vague and subject to a number of different interpretations. If a "fortune teller" were to give you specifics (i.e. something bad is going to happen to you at the grocery store tomorrow), you simply change your actions (don't go to the grocery store tomorrow), and your future is changed and the seer is wrong.
The reason that some fortunes appear to come true is because people want to believe they're true and start looking for a way to prove the fortune teller correct, or make decisions that lead toward the foretold event.
Anybody who could really tell the future would already be insanely wealthy by now and wouldn't be wasting their time telling fortunes for pocket change.

Tarot cards are just colored ink on cards. It has no evil significance - that's just nonsense. It's for personal preferences only.
By the way, the 52 deck playing cards were derived from Tarot cards. All what's missing is 26 cards.
If you choose to believe in the meanings of uprights and reversals, then feel free to do so. What harm can it do to you or anybody?

Because it doesn't work. Yes lots of people are idiots and will believe in anything. Ask yourself do you want your surgeon to use the tarot before they work on you. There is no real evidence that they do work. Your friends neighbor saying so is not real evidence. People lie, number do not. Think critically and do research for yourself.

I do believe in Tarot. I believe it is a tool of the devil filled with tricks and lies and lures to the gates of hell. The Bible says stay away from divinations and seers.
