i know mexican and beans ..raisins nuts peas...noodles chicken beef hamburger and rice...i am looking for some interesting and strange combinations for rice

it would have to be something that is cooked in the same pot..thats the way i make it like spanish rice

Put a little maple syrup on it and stir the rice. The flavor of both ingrediants will be enhanced. It is mild and slightly sweet and surprisingly good.

Quick And Easy Jambalaya Recipe

1 pkg 6.8 oz. Rice-a-Roni Spanish Rice
1 cup cooked ham or uncooked chicken (2 breast halves)
1 cup chopped onion
1 can (14.5 oz.) tomatoes, undrained, chopped
2 cloves garlic
1/8-1/4 t. hot pepper sauce
8 oz. frozen cleaned pre-cooked shrimp or raw shrimp shelled/deveined
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped

Now, in just 30 minutes... make this delicious main dish with a few simple ingredients.

In a large skillet, saute rice-vermicelli mix as package directs. Stir in 2 cups of water, ham, onion, tomatoes, garlic, hot pepper sauce and contents of seasoning package. Bring to a boil over high heat. Cover; reduce heat to low, simmer 10 minutes. Stir in shrimp and green pepper. Cover; simmer 8-10 more minutes or until most of the liquid is absorbed and shrimp turns pink. Serves 5.

Dirty rice

!/2 pound each chicken livers and gizzards, chopped into 1/4 inch cubes
red or green bell pepper, chopped
medium onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2-4 cloves garlic,minced or pressed
oil for sauteing
cayenne pepper to taste
2 cups rice
4 cups chicken stock

Saute chicken gizzards over medium heat in large heavy bottomed pot-when they begin to brown add livers and cook until no longer pink. Add onion-when it begins to soften add peppers,celery and garlic-cook until soft. Season with cayenne and salt&pepper to taste. Add rice, stir to coat. Pour in stock, bring to strong simmer, cover and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes or until stock is absorbed and rice is cooked. Traditional Cajun dish.

I think the japanese have very funky ways of doing rice like using the sticky ones to make rice patties and sandwich them between meet.

You can also shape sticky rice into hotdogs and prop them on sticks. Grill the sticks. (My personal variation to kiritampo)

Chose to serve them savory - with cheese and bacon baste grilling sticks with soy and mirin (jap. white wine)

Or sweet - cook the sticky rice with coconut milk, mix in some dried fruit, mango would be good. Baste the grilled sticks with honey or maple syrup.

Fruit sushi with sweet dipping sauce - nice dessert alternative to the risotto pudding recipes

Take chicken fillet, hot sausage, and jasmine rice, cook it together in the same pot. We call this Chicken Bog in South Carolina.

1 can cream of chicken, cream of celery, cream of brocolli and cream of MUSHROOM soup ---one 13X9 baking pan, 1 and 1/2 pounds of boneless breast of chicken cut in small cubes and 1 small box of INSTANT RICE.

dump rice in bottom of baking pan (Evenly spread over the entire bottom of pan... dump each can of soup on top of rice and. add 1 soup can of water and then stir it all together...top with chicken cubes. Place in the oven at 350 degress for 45 minutes to 1 hour (when there is a SLIGHTLY golden color on the top it's done).... it's SIMPLE, delicious, and ONE PAN is all that you dirty and the knife that cuts the chicken up.

Ingredients for Frogs' Legs With Tomatoes And Rice
1½ pounds frogs' legs
4 tomatoes, chopped
½ cup rice, washed
2 cups water
2 tablespoons butter
Seasonings to taste
Instructions
Put all ingredients in a stew pan.
Cover and let cook for about 25 minutes.
Then serve.

Lamb Breast With Rice And Spinach
2½ pounds breast of lamb
1 cup spinach, washed, cleaned
1 cup rice, washed
1 onion, peeled, chopped fine
1 tablespoon butter
5 cups water
Seasonings to taste



Instructions
Season the lamb and, roast in moderate oven for about 25 minutes.
While the lamb is roasting, put the water, rice, butter, onion and seasonings in a kettle.
Cover.
Let boil for 10 minutes.
Then add the spinach.
Finish cooking together, about 10 minutes.
Serve breast of lamb on top of rice and spinach

Okra And Rice
½ cup rice
½ onion, chopped
1 tablespoon oil
1½ cups tomatoes
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon thyme
1 small bay leaf, crushed
1 cup canned okra, or boiled fresh okra
1 teaspoon flour
Instructions
Cook the onion and flour in the oil till browned.
Boil the rice according to the recipe for boiled rice.
Then mix all the ingredients together, and heat in a double boiler.

Veal With Paprika And Rice
Veal (leftover), cut in thin slices
Rice (leftover), boiled
Paprika
Butter
Water, small amount
Instructions
Pour water over the paprika.
Put rice, butter and veal in a baking dish and pour over them the water and paprika.
Bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes.
Then serve.

Molded Rice
¼ cup of rice
Grated rind of 1 orange
1 cup of milk
1 cup of thin cream
½ teaspoon of salt
½ tablespoon of gelatine
1/3 cup of sugar
4 tablespoons of cold water
Instructions
Put a pint or more of cold water over the rice, let boil five minutes, then drain, rinse in cold water and drain again; add the milk and grated rind and let cook in a double boiler until the grains are tender; add the sugar, salt and cream, and let become hot, then add the gelatine, softened in the cold water, and stir over ice water until the mixture begins to thicken.
Turn into a mold.
Serve with boiled custard, sugar and cream, currant jelly or strawberry preserves.

add sticky rice, chinese black mushroom, and chinese sausage all cut up or chicken and put in the rice steamer with the rice..when cook add soy sauce and oyster sauce. you get mostly the flavor in the chicken, mushroom and sauage out of the rice.
