if God truly created man in his own image, and the fossil record clearly shows that humankind originated in africa, does it stand to reason that God is black??

If he were black then Jesus would have been born in Africa.
God is NOT any color, he is a being, not a human being.

I'm a white boy who no longer believes in God, but when I did, I always thought that God would be extra-cool if he were black. I always sort of pictured him as a strong, silent type. For some reason, I just didn't equate white(even though I am white) with strong and silent.

god doesn't have to be neither black nor white nor anything else. We're simply different colors because of the evolution and the conditions that exist on earth.

why do people take this literal? it does not mean that God looks anything like a human, if that were the case he could be a monkey or fish for all we know, instead what that means is that we are imbued with traits that are the same as God's

I don't know, when I think of God I don't think of outward things but the intrinsic significance of His person and His purpose for Man.

That's a silly question since that creation account is just a myth. But even if it wasn't, image means shape not color. So every race on earth is the same image.

God is a Spirit; therefore, colour is not an issue.
