All I hear is that we are doomed, stupid, depressing, evil, going to burn, etc.

stacie: I LOVE your question - how true! I'm a Christian, and I can tell you, that you are very, quite, alright , as an Atheist. God does not have it out solely, for "Atheists", as some would try to have you believe.
The logic I use, as a Christian is this. In the Bible, God used hookers ["harlots"] for fulfilment of His will and Christ had many hooker friends too. An Atheist is not some disease to God but are simply, "uncalled" or not elected by God - Y E T to serve in His plan for Him. (see: John, chapter 6, verse 44). The real ones under the "gun" are those, who God has entrusted with His truth and purpose, (Christians). I have lots of Atheistic friends - "no" they are not perfect - neither am I, as a human. The onus is on Christians to "walk the walk" - not "uncalled" Atheists. God loves Atheists as much as He loves Christians ...( that's why Jesus died willingly for His human creation) and Atheists are included. Only Christians with a lot of bad theology "write-off" others, who are different from them - God doesn't !!!

Not one thing is wrong with being an atheist. Atheism is more than just the knowledge that gods do not exist, and that religion is either a mistake or a fraud. Atheism is an attitude, a frame of mind that looks at the world objectively, fearlessly, always trying to understand all things as a part of nature. It could be said that Atheism has a doctrine to question and a dogma to doubt. It is the human mind in its natural environment, nothing is too holy to be investigated, nor too sacred to be questioned. The Atheist Bible, it could be said, has but one word: "THINK." Atheism is the complete emancipation of the human mind from the chains and fears of superstition.

Christians believe that anyone who doesn't believe and follow the way of God and His word are not going to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven (clearly stated in the Bible).

I wouldn't ever say your stupid, depressing, or evil because that is shallow, ignorant, naive, and stereotyping. Anyone who does say things like that to ANYONE (regardless of religion, race, sex, etc.) are actually the stupid ones because they can't see past their blind pride and ignorance.

ill start off by saying that im not atheist. but i do see where you're coming from. i think that everyone wants to hold on to some sort of belief. they want to believe that they won't waste away under a pile of dirt. you don't believe what the majority of the world does. and they don't like you for that. it's a shame. we all are just trying to figure life out. and i must say, thank you for sticking up for your beliefs and being open-minded. most ppl dont/arent.

As a Christian I am not obliged to sugar-coat the truth just for the sake of being politically correct. I think if I was an Atheist I would certainly be depressed because I would have nothing to believe in or look forward to when I die. As it stands now I know I have a home in Heaven & that I will see my family there one day.

What's most confusing to me is why Atheists lurk in the R&S forum. What is religious or spiritual about your non-belief? I thought Atheists considered themselves non-religious. What are you hoping to accomplish or hoping to find here in this forum? What burns inside you so that you make it your greatest goal to try to rob others of their beliefs & of their hope? That doesn't really make sense at all now does it?

Personally I don't like most Atheists because they pick at every imperfection of every religion because they can't see beyond the words of a book of which the religion is based off of.

No man christians do NOT believe that if you don't follow god you go to hell, if you read any of the New testament you would know that Jesus CLEARLY states god came for ALL people.

It's just a stage their going through. Someday they will be knocking us down to be first in line to see our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of the whole world, which includes them.
