for the learning artists and their art...go online. there are soooo many artists it is hard to remember them all! but i would suggest to search them by different art styles and periods. for instance, learn all the renaissance at once, then impressionism, and so on. an easy way to help remember a certain artist's paintings is to study their style and technique. their works will become easy to recognize once that is achieved (ex: degas and ballerinas) here are some wonderful websites to help you out. http://wwar.com/artists/

Well I think guru is a little far fetched, by my definition. Some of the greatest painters that ever lived were not gurus. But I believe that anyone who wants to better themselves should have a fair shot, and introducing art is certainly bettering yourself. Instead of focusing on informing other people why don't you inform yourself first. Try some college level art history books. You can probably check them out at your local library. Goggle Art History. Maybe take a painting class, learn how hard it can be to paint a masterpiece. But above all you have to make time for a museum. A few hours every month. Once you make it into a museum, if you truly appreciate art you will experience something you will want to repeat the rest of your life. Bottom line it takes a lifetime to become a guru, but merely a book to be able to recognize and talk about art.

Well, then you are going to have to go to the library and wade through a lot of books or go to college and major in art. And you will still have to go to museums to see the original brush strokes and get an honest idea of the size of the paintings, because they all look the same size in the books.
Maybe you ought to become a TV guru

I read this story about a person who went to the concert of a virtuoso violinist. He went up to the musician after a concert and said, "that was SO WONDERFUL I would give my LIFE to play like that!" The musician replied,"I DID give my life to be able to play like that." There is an old saying, "art is a jealous mistress." To be a master you must have total focus and it MUST me your life. If it is too much trouble for you to even go to a museum the harsh truth is that you do not have what it takes to be a maestro/guru and you probably know that.

haha! Thats fuuny. If its your passion then you will take the time to go to museums. But of course, I know you can't fly to every museum in the world, so just check out every art book in the library that you possible can and you will be fine. Be an art history major, already!
